Football Liverpool120Seven English Premier League matches take place on Saturday and we focus on Watford v Liverpool, Aston Villa v Wolves, Leicester v Manchester United, Southampton v Leeds and Brentford v Chelsea.

The return from an international break means teams news will be worth monitoring for punters. After 7 rounds of matches Chelsea top the standings, 1 point clear of Liverpool with Manchester City, Manchester United, Everton and Brighton 2 points off the summit.

Watford 17/2 Draw 7/4 Liverpool 1/3

Watford are no strangers to changing coach and they have brought in Claudio Ranieri to replace Xisco Munoz  after earning 7 points from 7 matches. Two wins so far came at home to Villa and at Norwich and they also drew 1-1 at home to Newcastle.

Liverpool are unbeaten with 4 wins and 3 draws. The games they have won have all been accompanied by a clean sheet whilst the draws came at home to title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City whilst the most recent road trip to Brentford ended all square at 3-3.

Verdict:

I'd expect Liverpool to win and if that proves to be the case then this season's stats suggest every chance of a clean sheet as well.

Bet: Liverpool to win to nil at 5/4

Aston Villa 23/20 Draw 23/10 Wolves 13/5

Mid table Villa have won 3, lost 3 and drawn 1 of their matches and they host Wolves in a local derby. After a tough start Wolves have been improving with 3 wins in their last 4 outings including victories at Watford and Southampton.

Verdict:

Villa are a really good side on their day but given this is a derby and the home team have been hit and miss I will side with the draw.

Bet: Match Result Draw at 23/10

Leicester 13/5 Draw 13/5 Manchester United 21/20

Leicester have 8 points and are just below halfway. They have lost 2 and drawn 2 of their last 4 and haven't kept a clean sheet since a 1-0 home win over Wolves on the opening weekend of the season.

After winning 4 and drawing 1 of their first 5 United dropped points in a 1-0 home defeat to Villa and then a 1-1 draw at home to Everton. You need a long memory for their last defeat in the league away from home although last season they drew 2-2 on this ground and then lost an FA Cup tie 3-1 and Leicester also won the second league meeting at Old Trafford (2-1).

Verdict:

Leicester are a better side than their results suggest. They did lose an earlier home fixture 1-0 to Manchester City but if they are on their game they could be a handful. I'm in the camp of both sides to score in a game of at least 3 goals in total.

Bet: Bet Builder both teams to score and over 2.5 total goals? (yes) at 21/20

Manchester City (1/9) host third bottom Burnley who have yet to win in a betting heat that makes little appeal to me. Norwich got their first point of the season at Burnley just prior to the international break and they host surprise package Brighton who will no doubt have their followers at odds of 11/10 but I'll focus elsewhere.

Southampton 7/5 Draw 5/2 Leeds 39/20

Southampton are still looking for a first won of the season. They have drawn 4 matches including a home game against Manchester United and a visit to Manchester City but other more realistic chances for 3 points have been passed over.

Leeds first league win of the season came at the seventh time of asking, 1-0 at home to Watford. On the road this season they have drawn at Newcastle and Burnley (both 1-1) and an opening weekend visit to Manchester United ended in a 5-1 hiding.

Verdict:

Both teams have frustrated more than once this season and it's a tricky looking contest although the betting markets do suggest goals. Leeds beat the Saints home and away without conceding last season but the win over Watford was their first clean sheet of the current campaign.

Any of the the 3 possible outcomes in the match result market would come as no surprise and I'm going to get involved with a speculative play on both teams to score in the second half.

Bet: Both teams to score in the second half? (yes) at 17/10

Brentford 11/2 Draw 14/5 Chelsea 4/7

With 12 points from 7 matches Brentford are going well and they now take aim at the league leaders in a West London derby. They have beaten Arsenal (2-0) and drawn with Liverpool (3-3) in earlier home games and they have won at Wolves and West Ham recently.

Chelsea have 5 wins, a draw at Liverpool and a home defeat to Manchester City to show for their efforts so far. They have already won London derby matches at Arsenal (2-0) and Spurs (3-0) this season and have conceded just 3 times in 7 league outings.

Verdict:

Brentford have been great to watch and will surely relish this opportunity against another big gun but after trawling through the betting markets the price for Chelsea to score in both halves made most appeal.

Bet: Chelsea to score in both halves? (yes) at 17/10
