BelgiumEuroOne of the highlights on the European Championship last 16 coupon sees Belgium take on Portugal in Seville on Sunday and we take a look at a number of betting options available to punters

Belgium

Belgium won all their matches in Group B to finish 6 points clear of Denmark, Finland and Russia. They were tasked with taking on Russia in Saint Petersburg first up and responded with a 3-0 victory. Next time out they took on the Danes in Copenhagen and came from behind to win 2-1 before completing a routine 2-0 victory over Finland.

Lukaku scored a brace against Russia and another against Finland. De Bruyne missed the first group game and came off the bench to score in the second and also provided assists against the Danes and the Fins.

Belgium qualified for these finals with 10 wins from 10 matches and they have lost just once (2-1 to England at Wembley) in all competitions over the course of the last 12 months

At the time of writing Belgium’s odds to win the tournament are around 8.3/1 and they are 3.95/1 to reach the final.

Portugal

Defending champions Portugal were drawn in the group of death alongside France, Germany and a Hungary side who proved to be more of a handful than the vast majority of punters expected.

Portugal began with a 3-0 win in Hungary but next time out they crashed to a 4-2 defeat in Germany, scoring 2 own goals. The group went to the wire and a 2-2 draw with France on Wednesday saw Portugal finish third with 4 points, behind Germany on goal difference and 1 point shy of France with Hungary (2 points) missing out.

Ronaldo has been grabbing the headlines and breaking records and he is now the joint leading goalscorer in international football. In this tournament he scored twice (one a penalty) in the win over Hungary, another goal from open play in the defeat to Germany and he made no mistake with 2 more spot kicks against France. Jota and Guerreiro are the other Portugal players to score in the tournament so far.

In the betting to win the tournament Portugal can be backed at around 10.7/1 and they are 6.9/1 to reach the final.

The Betting

90 minutes: Belgium are trading at around 1.44/1 to win the game in regulation time with the draw at 21/10 and Portugal can be backed at around 2.04/1

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 21/20 and it's 8/10 for both teams to score.

To score the first goal of this game Ronaldo is 3.45/1 and Lukaku 4.3/1

To qualify for the next round under any means of victory Belgium are priced at around 0.72/1 and Portugal are 21/20

The Verdict:

The match result looks a tricky call but if I were offered a free bet I would be inclined to side with Belgium who have greater consistency on their side over the last 12 months or so.

Although it's knockout football now I still think goals are on the cards and a number of options appeal. We saw goals galore in Portugal's group matches and aside from Ronaldo's exploits they conceded 6 in total against Germany and France. With Belgium being a free scoring side I'm going with them to pick Portugal off at least twice.

I'm also going with Lukaku to score a goal anytime during the 90 minutes

Finally in the 90 minute correct score market I'll side with Belgium to edge it 2-1

Bets: (90 mins) Belgium total match goals over 1.5 at 14/10.

Anytime goalscorer Lukaku at 16/10

Correct score Belgium to win 2-1 at 5.85/1
