EnglandEuroWednesday's European Championship semi final sees England and Denmark clash at Wembley and England come into the game as favourites to win the game and to go on to lift the trophy.

England

England made short work of Ukraine in the quarter finals in Rome, coming through with a 4-0 win thanks to goals from Harry Kane (2), Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson and they remain the only side in the tournament yet to concede a goal.

England played all their earlier matches at Wembley and in the Round of 16 they were 2-0 winners against Germany. Raheem Sterling gave England the lead in the second half and as the Germans became increasingly desperate for the equalizer Harry Kane sealed the win.

England topped Group D with 7 points, 3 clear of Croatia and Czech Republic whilst Scotland earned just 1 point. Goals in the group matches were scarce with

England first beating Croatia 1-0, then playing out a 0-0 draw with Scotland followed by another 1-0 victory over the Czech's. Sterling scored the winner in both of those group stage victories.

In the outright betting to win the tournament England are now favourites at around 16/10.

Denmark

A goal early (Delaney) and late (Dolberg) in the first half put Denmark firmly in control of their quarter final match up with Czech Republic. The deficit was halved just after time but Denmark had done enough to go through as 2-1 winners.

The Danes thrashed Wales 4-0 in the Round of 16 with Dolberg scoring in each half and there were late goals from Maehle and Braithwaite.

Denmark had finished as runners up in Group B which was topped by Belgium by some distance. It was a close call as they edged second place on goal difference after finishing up with 3 points alongside Finland and Russia.

Denmark had the advantage of playing all their group matches in Copenhagen. They lost 1-0 to Finland in the game marred by the collapse of Christian Eriksen and in their second outing they took an early lead against Belgium ( Yussuf Poulsen) only to lose the game 2-1. Denmark needed to win their final group match against Russia to have any chance of a prolonged stay in the tournament and they made no mistake with goals from Damsgaard, Poulsen, Christensen and Maehle in a 4-1 win.

In the outright betting to win this tournament Denmark can be backed at around 9/1

Recent Head to Head

The teams met in the Nations League in 2020, drawing 0-0 in Denmark in August. A month later Denmark won 1-0 at Wembley thanks to a soft penalty and England finished the game with 9 men after Harry Maguire and Reece James were both sent off.

The Betting

The Verdict:

England were hardly tested by Ukraine but they continue to gather momentum after finding goals hard to come by in the group stage. They face a very spirited Denmark side who's form is also on an upward curve but I feel England will get the job done and I fancy they will score at least twice.

After looking out of sorts in the group matches Harry Kane has scored 3 in the last 2 matches and he looks a solid, if unimaginative choice to score “anytime” in the 90 minutes here

Bets: 90 mins, England total goals over 1.5 at 19/20

90 mins Anytime goalscorer Harry Kane at 12/10
