After making short work of winning their group Italy head to Wembley as firm favourites for Saturday's European Championship Round of 16 clash with Austria.
Italy
Italy were involved in the first match of the tournament, they beat Turkey 3-0 and that laid the platform to go through the group stage with a 100% record. Further wins over Switzerland (also 3-0) and most recently Wales (1-0) mean the Italian's arrive in the knock out rounds without conceding a goal.
Locatelli helped himself to a brace against Switzerland whilst Immobile scored in their first two matches. Insigne scored the third against Turkey and Pessina grabbed the winner against Wales.
Italy also came through their qualifying group for these finals with a perfect record and World Cup 2022 qualifying and friendly matches before this tournament have also gone to plan. All in all they have reeled off 11 straight wins across all competitions and they have kept a clean sheet each time.
In the outright betting to win this tournament Italy are currently trading at around 11/2 with only France (7-2) a shorter price.
Austria
Austria were drawn in Group C which was topped by a Netherlands side who also won all of their matches. The Austrians were runners up with 2 wins, beating North Macedonia (3-1) first up and Ukraine (1-0) in their final group match. In between those wins Austria lost 2-0 to the Dutch in Amsterdam.
Lainer, Gregoritsch and Marco Arnautovic scored the Austrian goals against North Macedonia and Baumgartner's first half goal against Ukraine proved decisive.
In the outright betting to win this tournament Austria are currently trading at around 150/1

The Verdict:
Italy have been foot perfect and to me they faced stronger sides in topping their group than Austria beat in finishing runners up in theirs. When Austria did meet a quality side in the shape of the Netherlands they never really got in a blow so on that evidence they will have to step up significantly if they are to spring a surprise here.
Moving from Rome to London might be one cautionary factor concerning Italy but I'll go with them to win a game of 2 goals or more.
