Both the Netherlands and Austria made winnings starts to their European Championship Group C campaigns and as they prepare to face off in Amsterdam on Thursday it's the Dutch who are odds on favourites to make it two wins from two.

Group C Betting Update

The opening round of matches in this group saw Netherlands beat Ukraine 3-2 and Austria came out on top 3-1 against North Macedonia. Looking at some Group C outrights a Netherlands / Austria double for qualification is now 11/20 and Netherlands to top this group with Austria as runners up in a straight forecast is priced at around 12/10 with Netherlands 1st and Ukraine 2nd at 16/10.

Netherlands

The Dutch came into the tournament as favourites to top this group and they began with a 3-2 win over Ukraine at this venue. All the goals came in the second half with Wijnaldum and then Weghorst giving them a 2-0 lead only for Ukraine to level matters up. To their credit the Netherlands regained their composure and Denzel Dumfries headed in the winner on 85 minutes.

The high scoring trend in Netherlands games had been evident in qualifying where all bar one of their matches went over 2.5 goals and at least 4 goals were scored in 6 of those games.

Austria

Austria started their tournament against North Macedonia, the outsiders of this quartet. They took the lead through Lainer on 18 minutes but a mix up in defence saw them pegged back before half time. Austria had to wait until 78 minutes to regain the lead through Gregoritsch and Marco Arnautovic, who started on the bench, sealed a 3-1 win.

Austria dominated possession in their opening game but they still have work to do to qualify with this match followed by a clash with Ukraine.

The Netherlands are trading at around 11/20 to win the game with the draw at 32/10 and Austria can be backed at around 5/1

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 15/20 and it's roughly the same price for both teams to score.

The Verdict:

I was quite impressed with the Netherlands first time out, they have plenty of attacking options and boast a home advantage again.

Meanwhile Austria would snap your hand off if you offered them a draw and they may set up accordingly but I'm looking to the Dutch to score in each half of football.
