Tournament Preview
One of the most prestigious events on the PGA Tour returns as the AT&T Byron Nelson returns in 2021. Like many big name tournaments in 2020, the Byron Nelson fell foul of the ongoing COVID situation, but it looks to be back and raring to go in 2021. Named in honour of one of the greatest ever players to have graced the game, the list of winning alumni at the Byron Nelson is one of the best in the business with Nelson himself, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, and Tiger Woods having all won the event previously. With $8.1 million in the prize pot too, the stakes could not be higher in Texas this week.
Betting Preview
Outright Winner
Plenty of the biggest names on the PGA Tour feature here at TPC Craig Ranch and they will be keen to get their hands on some silverware here:-
Few golfers in the world can compete with Bryson DeChambeau when it comes to power hitting and if he brings his A-Game here, he will be very difficult to stop.
Spaniard Jon Rahm bombed hard at the Wells Fargo last weekend, but his game is so versatile and how he would love to get himself back in the winners enclosure here.
After breaking his 3 year winning duck earlier this season, Jordan Spieth looks to be a man rekindling his best form once more and he should be very much in the mix this weekend.
Four-time major winner and former runner up at this event Brooks Koepka looks to be finding his best form once more in 2021 and he could take some stopping in this event.
Australian former world number one Jason Day has always played well at this event and will be looking to add another Byron Nelson to his collection, after last winning the tournament in 2010.
1st Round Leader
The whole field here in Texas will believe they can get off to a strong start and if they do so they could set themselves up for the week ahead:
Fresh off his second place finish at the Masters last month, few would bet against young American Will Zalatoris swinging with renewed vigour from the off here at TPC Craig Ranch.
Australian Marc Leishman finished second at this event back in 2018 and with a game seemingly tailor-made for this course, he could get off to a fast start this week.
Englishman Lee Westwood has been at the very top of his game so far this year and looks way overpriced to be in the mix from the outset here in Texas.
Top Ten Finish
With so many quality players assembled here at TPC Craig Ranch, getting into the winning enclosure could be tough but there are plenty of candidates to finish in the top 10 come Sunday afternoon:-
Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama is making his first outing since his Augusta triumph and with confidence high, he could be a very tough man to stop.
Experienced American was on top form at the WGC World Matchplay last month and on a course that should suit his game, he could be in the mix come Sunday afternoon.
2018 champion Aaron Wise is an accomplished ball striker and with a course and distance win under his belt, he could be in contention at the business end of proceedings.
