AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
Venue: Pebble Beach, California.
Dates: Thursday 11th – Sunday 14th February 2021
Tournament Preview
The PGA Tour continues with the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am – a tournament that dates back on the tour to 1937. Historically, pro-am events draw packed crowds but the advent of COVID 19 on the golfing landscape will change the atmosphere at Pebble Beach somewhat. Previous winners of the event include Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Vijay Singh, and Tiger Woods – testament to the prestige the event is held in on the tour. The winner of the AT&T Pro-am will take home almost $1.5 million, making it one of the most lucrative winning purses on the tour and competition should be hot in California this week.
Betting Preview
Outright Winner
Plenty of the biggest names on the PGA Tour are present in California meaning it should be a hotly contested week of golf:-
American Patrick Cantlay has enjoyed a solid start to the season and is the headline name in a relatively strong field.
Despite a drop in form since the start of 2021, Daniel Berger has become a major player on the PGA Tour, and few would be against him featuring at Pebble Beach come Sunday afternoon.
Englishman Paul Casey comes into this one fresh off the back of a win on the European Tour in the UAE and his form over the last 12 months has been so consistent.
Former world number one Jason Day is starting to rekindle his best golf on the PGA Tour, and he will relish the opportunity to be playing in the Californian sunshine.
The Phoenix Open last week saw Jordan Spieth back to somewhere near his best and the rest of the golfing world is standing up to take note – making him a real contender here.
1st Round Leader
Producing the goods over 72 holes is often the most difficult thing for any golfer to do therefore here are our first round leader picks:-
Former Open Champion and European Ryder Cup hero Francesco Molinari is back playing some of his best golf and he looks set to be in the mix again here at Pebble Beach.
With back to back top 10’s from his last two outings, Cameron Tringale looks to be in the form of his life, and he could get off to a flyer here in conditions that should suit his game.
American Max Homa was well in the mix at the Phoenix Open last time out before fading at the weekend and he could be a candidate to start well again this week in the Californian sunshine.
Top Ten Finish
With so many quality players assembled here in California, getting into the winning enclosure could be tough but there are plenty of candidates to finish in the top 10 come Sunday:-
South Korean Si Woo Kim has been performing solidly on the PGA Tour, with top 10 finishes already this season and he could well be in the mix again come Sunday afternoon.
As a 5-time winner of this event, Phil Mickelson can never be discarded and although his form has been patchy, he could go well here.
After leading following day one of the Phoenix Open, Mark Hubbard faded somewhat last weekend, but he is striking the ball well and looks a genuine candidate in an open field.
