Race 1

MAJOR MASTER produced a promising debut effort over 1250m on this course. He was green in running, but the manner in which he finished off his race was eye-catching. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and should love the extra distance on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating. 

PINOT GRIGIO was in need of his comeback run over 1250m last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. There should be good improvement to come from the son of The United States. 

WESTERN WORLD has run two fair races to date. He returns from a 19-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of One World has scope and if fit, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest. 

Race 2

TAP SHOES should have finished closer to the winner on debut. She received a bump leaving the start and the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and is bred to love the extra distance on offer. She does have a wide draw of 11 to contend with, but gets the services of Grant van Niekerk who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle. 

DIAMOND BOMBER showed good improvement over 1250m on this course last time. She raced green on the turn and stayed on at the finish. She will love the extra distance on offer and with luck in running, she should be one of the leading contenders. 

SWEET CONIFER is an unraced daughter of Canford Cliffs from the Brett Crawford stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. She is well-related and if not too green, she should give a good account of herself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

Race 3

MASTEROFTHEDESERT has shown good improvement in his last two starts with the tongue-tie fitted. He raced from just off the pace over 1250m last time before getting outrun late. The son of Master Of My Fate is having his peak run today and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should be the one to beat. 

CHIEF RUNNER was a tad disappointing in his last start over this C&D. His debut effort when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville was encouraging. With a bit of luck in running, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot. 

WATER DRAGON is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. He is having his peak run and has cracked a good draw of four. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. 

Race 4

NAVY STRENGTH was doing his best work late when fourth in the Listed Settlers Trophy last time. He takes a drop in class and despite carrying top weight of 61.5kgs, he should be too good for this field.

DAIMYO has good consistent form lines to his credit. He should have won his last start as he hung in the final 100m. He is likely to race on the speed under Richard Fourie and may be hard to peg back.

KING PELLES finished 0.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. The son of Duke Of Marmalade won his penultimate start over this C&D and merits healthy respect.

Race 5

COURTLY has shown good improvement in each of his outings to date. He raced from a handy position over 1800m last time before getting caught late by Commander Green. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Act Of War will love the extra 200m on offer and he can go one better. 

DREAMALITTLEDREAM finished 1.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. 

CONGRESSMAN finished 2.8 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. He is 1kg better off at the weights and should also finish closer. He will enjoy the extra 200m on offer and can earn another cheque. 

 

 

Race 6

HELIOTROPE‘S last three starts have been decent. She lost a length leaving the start last time, but stayed on to finish third. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Rafeef is back against her own sex and from her good draw of two, she can notch up her second- career victory. 

LICKETY SPLIT fought hard for her last victory over this C&D. She finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. 

ENCHANTING CHOICE was doing her best work late over 1400m on this course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She won her only attempt over this C&D and merits healthy respect.

Race 7

MAI SENSATION was an easy winner when shedding her maiden tag over 1250m on this course. She finished 1.7 lengths behind POLYNOMIAL on debut. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. The daughter of Rafeef is a progressive type and she will enjoy the extra distance on offer. She has plenty of scope and can follow up. 

POLYNOMIAL was running on too late when second over 1250m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. With luck from her awkward draw of nine, she should pose a massive threat. 

GOLDEN ANGEL produced a strong finish to win her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is coming along the right way and must be included in all bets. 

Race 8

ONE STRIPE returns from a well-deserved 23-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of One World showed his class when winning the Grade 3 Winter Nursery last time. He should have no issues with the rise to 1400m and Gavin Lerena has made the trip to ride him. He has plenty of class and should find himself in the winner’s enclosure. 

SNOW PILOT is better than his last two starts in Grade 1 Company. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. Richard Fourie rides on his return and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. 

ALL OUT FOR SIX ran a good race when second in the Grade 3 Langerman last time. He set the pace that day but found one too good in the form of Eight On Eighteen. He won his previous two outings over this distance and may be hard to peg back. 

Race 9

DEAN STREET produced a good comeback run when third over 1250m on this course last time. He may have cost himself winning that day as he hung in the final 200m. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If Luyolo Mxothwa is able to keep him on a straight line, he should notch up his sixth-career victory. 

THE ABDICATOR has good consistent form lines to his credit. He has won four times, finished second twice and third once from nine starts over this distance. He will strip a much fitter horse and will be mowing down the frontrunners. 

NORDIC CHIEF finished 2.05 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. 

Race 10

CAPTAIN ARROW won an easy race in his last start over this C&D. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory. Grant van Niekerk is booked to ride and with race fitness on his side, he should be the one to side with. 

DANCE VARIETY has good consistent form lines to his credit. He returns from a 25- week break which would have done him the world of good. If not in need of this outing, he should be competitive. 

ZIYASHA hails from the visiting Clinton Binda stable. He is better than his last start in the Grade 1 Golden Horse Sprint. All four of his career victories have come over this distance. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie rides on his return and if suited to the course, he should be involved at the finish
