Race 1
STAR PERFORMER produced two eye-catching efforts in KZN. He raced from just off the pace over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, but was caught late by Sovereign State who has come out and won again since. The son of What A Winter is having his first run for the Vaughan Marshall stable. He is a horse with ability and if suited to this course, he should take a power of beating.
WILLIAM WEST ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. He showed good speed, but was caught late by War Chariot. The son of William Longsword would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
BARNBOUGLE showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He will strip much fitter and may be hard to peg back.
Race 2
MY FLOWER FATE cost herself winning last time as she lost three lengths leaving the start and she had to be switched for running room in the latter stages. The daughter of Master Of My Fate jumps from pole position and if getting away to a clean start, she should notch up her third career victory.
LADY SILVANO‘S last two starts have been good. She has won twice and finished third once from four starts over this distance. She will strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.
SUPREME DREAM finished 1.8 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 3
This is a weak Maiden field for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is VIX PRINCESS from the Justin Snaith stable. Her last start over this C&D was fair. She is a progressive type and should have more to come. The daughter of Vercingetorix has a wide draw to overcome, but she gets the services of Grant van Niekerk who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
LOVE SHACK has improved in her last two outings on this course. She tries the 1400m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should pose a threat.
LOOK FORWARD should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be switched for running room at the 100m mark. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from her wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 4
KING VISERYS showed good improvement over this C&D last time. He set the pace, but was caught late by Right Royal Mo. The son of Gimmethegreenlight meets the right field today and with Richard Fourie retaining the ride, he should go one better.
ETOILEFILLANTE finished 2.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He returns from an 11-week break, during which time he was gelded. If jumping on terms, he should be competitive.
TAMBOURINE MAN has shown improvement in his last two starts with the blinkers fitted. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The son of Twice Over can finish in the placings.
Race 5
KELP FOREST showed good signs of a form return over this C&D last time. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. He has cracked a good draw of four and if confirming his recent improvement, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
LIKETHECLAPPERS finished 0.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe.
NUMZAAN has shown improvement in his last two starts on this course. The obvious concern is the widest draw of eleven, but he gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 6
KATSU finished 0.05 lengths behind GENTLEMAN JOE last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Louis The King jumps from a handy draw of six and can return to winning ways.
GENTLEMAN JOE tried hard in his last start, but found one too good in the form of Rule Of Thumb who has come out and won again since. He should strip much fitter and with luck in running, should pose a threat.
EXCEEDER should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was cramped for galloping room at the 50m mark. He has won twice and finished second twice from nine starts over this distance. Richard Fourie retains the ride and with luck in running, he should be right there.
Race 7
NORDIC QUEST followed up her maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1250m on this course. The manner in which she ran on at the finish that day suggests that she will love the rise to 1400m. It is encouraging that Aldo Domeyer steps back into the saddle and with luck in running, she may be the one to beat.
MIA‘S HARPER finished 1.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. She jumps from a handy draw of four and merits healthy respect.
DOUBLE GRAND SLAM was an easy winner of her last start over 1250m on this course. She returns from a 30-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. If not in need of the run, she should be competitive.
Race 8
RAINBOW LORIKEET was an easy maiden winner at the fourth time of asking. The manner in which she quickened up away from the opposition that day was encouraging. She does take on stronger, but looks to have ability and should be up to the task at hand. The daughter of Querari is the stable elect with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle.
SEEKING PEACE ran a fair race against male company last time. She finished 0.5 lengths behind AMONG THE CLOUDS in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
AMONG THE CLOUDS followed up her maiden win with a good second-place finish over this C&D. She is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from her wide draw and will be running on.
Race 9
CANDY TOWN followed up her maiden win with an equally impressive victory over this C&D. She showed good speed that day, found another kick and drew clear of the opposition. The daughter of Querari carries a big weight of 62kgs, but she is above average and in a good space. Corne Orffer knows her well and she can notch up the hat-trick.
WINTER RAINFALL followed up her maiden win with a good second-place finish over this C&D. She meets a similar line-up this afternoon and will be right there.
LADY LOOK ALIKE showed good speed in her post maiden debut over 1250m, but was caught late. She should have no issues with the drop to 1000m and merits healthy respect.
Race 10
LINES CROSSED was an easy winner in the Non-Black Type Cape Racing Farm Sale Stakes last time. He showed good speed, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. The cheekpieces have done the trick on the son of Canford Cliffs. It is encouraging that Grant van Niekerk retains the ride and the pair may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
ORIENTAL CHARM was given a peach of a ride when winning on debut over this C&D. He does take on stronger, but could be anything and can remain unbeaten.
TEFLON MAN raced wide around the turn over 1000m last time, but stayed on at the finish. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. With luck in running, he should fight out the finish
