RACE 1

This is a weak Open Maiden for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is RUBY CLAIRE from the Gavin Smith stable. This is her first run for the yard. Her penultimate run when fifth over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville was fair. This is the right type of race for her and if settled into her new surroundings, she can shed her maiden tag.

ELUSIVE HUNTER has fair consistent form lines to her name. She carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SIERRA SKY showed improvement in her first run for the Kelly Mitchley stable. She carries a light weight of 53kgs and in this line-up, she may have more to come

RACE 2

LENNOXTOWN has been disappointing in his last two starts on the turf. His debut run when fifth over 1000m on this course was encouraging. The son of Canford Cliffs is bred to enjoy the rise to 2200m. He is a horse with scope and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

TAKE A MULLIGAN raced from a handy position over 1900m last time but found one too good in the form of Island Master. The son of Twice Over is one of the leading contenders in this field.

CRIMSON COMET finished 1.85 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

RACE 3

GET IT DONE has good recent form lines to her name. She raced from a handy position over 1600m last time but found one too good in the form of Beau Kala. She has won over this distance previously and may be the one to beat.

BREEDE BABY is better than her last start with the blinkers and the headgear has been quickly removed. Her penultimate run when fifth over 1600m on the turf, catches the eye. She should love the rise to 1900m and if Richard Fourie can switch her off early, she should pose a threat.

HUGSANDHIGHFIVES should have finished closer to the winner last time as she was unbalanced at the 150m mark. She tries the 1900m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 4

LT ALEXANDER finished 0.5 lengths behind GUERRA last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from seven starts on this course. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his awkward draw of nine and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

GUERRA should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung inwards in the final 400m. If keeping on a straight line, he should pose a massive threat.

EUPHORIC took on stronger in his last start over 1900m. Four of his nine career victories have come over this C&D. He returns to Handicap Company and cannot be ignored.

 

 

Race 5

TIRPITZ should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was inconvenienced at the 150m mark. He would have come on from the run and should love the rise to the mile. The 6yo gelding takes a drop in class and with luck in running, he can notch up his fourth-career victory.

DOWSER finished 1.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is better than his last start on the turf. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

TRAVEL MASTER has good recent form lines to his credit. He raced from a handy position over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish fourth. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The 7yo gelding takes a drop in class and he can return to winning ways.

GUARDING THE WALL‘S last three starts have been good. He set the pace over 1200m last time and stayed on to finish third. He jumps from a good draw of two and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

JAMES FITZJAMES was given a peach of a ride when winning his maiden in his local debut. The son of Admiral Kitten takes on stronger, but he has scope and should be up to the task at hand.

RACE 7

This is a competitive Merit Rated 80 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is STRAWBERRY STINGER from the Gavin Smith stable. This is his first run for the yard. He has won once, finished second once and third once from six starts over this distance. If settled into his new surroundings, he can return to winning ways under Craig Zackey.

SIBERIAN STEEL was a tad disappointing in his last start over this distance. It must be noted that Gimme’s Laddie has come out and won again since. He finished second in his only C&D attempt. He should pose the biggest threat to the top choice.

DONNY TEE raced from a handy position over 1300m last time and kept finding to hold all challengers at bay. He was given a three-pound penalty for that victory. Despite his big mass of 62kgs, he should be right there at the finish.

RACE 8

THING CALLED LOVE ran a fair race over 1200m on the turf last time. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. The daughter of Rafeef takes a drop in class and with stable Jockey Richard Fourie in the saddle, she can return to winning ways.

JADE’S CABERNEIGH is better than her last start on the turf. She has won twice from three starts over this C&D. Her best form has been under Craig Zackey and she is one of the leading contenders.

SEATTLE RIPPER finished 1.5 lengths behind KNOCKEMSTIFF last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned
