RACE 1

SWISS WALT is seldom too far off the action, finishing third last time out over six furlongs, 2.75 lengths behind the winner. He showed plenty of toe that day and on that effort, he should appreciate the drop in trip. The gelding is sure to put his pole position to good use.

RAPTOR ISLAND cast a shoe when finishing sixth last time out over five furlongs, 3.75 lengths back from the winner. He gets a handy draw three and should be right up there when they hit the wire.

THE BUSINESS showed marked improvement in his first start at Fairview since relocating from KZN when finishing fifth over six furlongs, 2.25 lengths back from the winner, this despite being reported to be coughing. If he is able to reproduce that last effort, he should be a big runner in this line-up.

RACE 2

GIVE US A SMILE finished fourth in his first run at Fairview over a mile, 1.35 lengths back from the victor, this after being transferred from KZN. He attracted plenty of betting support that day and stayed on well over the closing stages. The gelding jumps from gate five and looks to be the one to side with here.

BRIDGERTON finished second in his penultimate start over a mile and then ended up in third spot last time out over seven furlongs, 3.55 lengths off the winner. He has pulled draw three and should put in another good effort.

REACH FORTHE STARS raced handy when finishing second last time out over 1900m, when having his first run for his new stable. He has cracked pole position and will have 4kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

RACE 3

GIDEON’S DAUGHTER has only had the four runs to date, but has not been disgraced in any of them, the latest when second over 1900m, 1.25 lengths behind the winner. She drops back to the mile, but from gate seven, she could give the returning Greg Cheyne a welcome home present.

MISS TUCKER raced handy when finishing third last time out over a mile, 3.35 lengths behind the winner and from a useful draw two, she should turn in another honest performance here.

SUNDROP pulled hard in her latest outing over eleven furlongs and then had nothing to offer over the closing stages to end up in fifth place.

RACE 4

FAIRY KNIGHT has finished second in his last two starts, the latest over a mile, just a neck behind the winner. He tried to go from jump to wire that day and was only grabbed in the shadow of the post. Richard Fourie knows the colt well and will be hoping to go one better today.

EMPIRE BLUE is the stablemate to the top pick and will have Greg Cheyne in the saddle. He put 6.25 lengths between himself and the opposition to win his last start over this C&D. He gets gate seven and makes a solid back-up for the yard.

BACK FOR MORE is another runner from the Alan Greeff stable. She is a 3 year old filly taking on the boys, but she stayed on well to finish second last time out over seven furlongs, 3.25 lengths back from the winner and on that effort, she should enjoy the extra distance on offer here.

RACE 5

TREASURE HUNT finished second over a mile, 1.25 lengths off the winner when having her first start for her new yard, after moving from Cape Town. She tries the poly for the first time, but if equally suited to the surface, she could be the one that they all have to beat.

OFFICIAL SECRET on the other hand has proven form on the poly, winning her penultimate start over a mile and finishing second last time out over the same trip, 1.5 lengths back from the victor.

GOLD FOR AFRICA has posted two solid last runs, the latest when second over this C&D, just 0.5 lengths behind the winner. She tried to go from gun to tape that day and was only snared on the line. She will have the services of a 4kgs claiming apprentice, Brevan Plaatjies who is likely to employ the same tactics.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, THEN IN FOCUS was slow away, but stayed on well to finish third last time out over nine furlongs, 1.75 lengths behind the winner and on that effort, he should have little issue coping with the extra distance and will have 4kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba.

JASPERO had his consistency rewarded with a 1.25 lengths victory last time out over nine furlongs. He likes to race handy and is sure to be running on over the latter stages of this contest.

ST CLOUD lost a length at the start when finishing second last time out over 1900m, 2.25 lengths back from the victor. She is a 4 year old filly taking on males, but she is seldom far off the action and with Richard Fourie staying with the ride, she should turn in another honest effort today.

RACE 7

GOLDEN PACIFIC completed her hat-trick when winning her last outing over six furlongs by 0.75 lengths, so clearly has some ability. She showed plenty of toe that day and was then able to keep all the late challengers at bay in the dash down to the wire. She gets a 4kgs claiming apprentice Kobeli Lihaba in the irons today and a quartet is very much on the cards.

CIVIL RIGHTS is a speedy sort and the stable companion to the former and was returning from a 3-month rest when finishing fourth last time out over 1000m, 4 lengths back from the winner. Her poly form is solid and she makes a solid back-up for the yard.

BONNAROO is another speed merchant who finished second in her last outing over six furlongs, 2.25 lengths behind the winner. She gets Greg Cheyne up and will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

RACE 8

PATH OF CHOICE has consistent formlines to his name, winning his penultimate start over seven furlongs and then finishing second last time out over a mile, beaten just a head, this after being slow away and then running on strongly over the latter stages. The gelding faces a wide draw nine, but he should be doing his best work late.

CLAP OF THUNDER also won his penultimate outing, but in his case over six furlongs and then finished fifth next time out over seven furlongs, but just 1.7 lengths back from the winner. He has pulled gate five and should keep the top pick honest.

WIND SOCK has cracked pole position and will have a 4kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies in the irons. He has won once and finished second once in his four outings over this C&D, so a bold effort can be expected today
