RACE 1

SILVA CITY produced a promising debut effort over this C&D, two weeks ago. She lost a length leaving the start, but showed pace and stayed on to finish second. She would have come on from the run and with racing experience on her side, she should take a power of beating.

FIERY COUNTESS is an unraced daughter of Fire Away from the Gavin Smith stable with Craig Zackey in the irons. She is related to four-time winner Pashtunwali. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

BONJOUR LA VILLE is a daughter of William Longsword from the Kelly Mitchley yard with Calvin Habib in the saddle. If not in need of this run, she should give a good account of herself.

RACE 2

JOY AND PEACE ran a fair race when second over 1600m on the polytrack last time. Two of her seven career victories have come over this distance. The daughter of Master Of My Fate will love the return to the turf and she should be the one to beat.

EPIKLEROS hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. She had excuses in her last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She carries a light mass of 50kgs and if all went well with her travels, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

MEDLERS TART is better than her last start over 2200m on the Polytrack. She finished 1.25 lengths behind GIDEON’S DAUGHTER in her penultimate run. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

RACE 3

This is a competitive Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is WINTER IN PARIS from the Kelly Mitchley stable. This is her first run for the yard. She brings some fair Gauteng form lines with her and if settled into her new surroundings, she can win a race of this nature.

DANCING IN WINTER has produced two encouraging runs to date. She stayed on when third over 1200m on this course last time. If not in need of this outing, she will be running on and can go close.

CROWNED HORNBILL may not have seen out the 1400m last time. He was not beaten far in his first two career efforts in the Western Cape. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and there should be good improvement to come.

RACE 4

RUN THE WORLD hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. He is lightly raced with moderate form lines. The son of One World should enjoy the rise to 1600m and from pole position, he may be the one to beat in this field.

AMERICAN MATADOR is having his first run for the Gavin Smith stable. He has taken on winners in his last two starts in the Western Cape. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

GENTEEL was disappointing in her last start over 2000m and the tongue-tie has been quickly removed. On best form shown, she would not be a shock winner in this field.

Race 5

JUAN CARLOS has good consistent form lines to his credit. He was carried leaving the start and ran on well at the business end last time. He has won twice, finished second twice and third once from six starts on this course. It is encouraging that Chase Maujean steps back into the saddle and he should take a power of beating.

CATCH THE TUNE showed good improvement in his last start over 1900m on the polytrack. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He will strip a much fitter horse today and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

ANATOLIAN SILVER finished 3.75 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

Race 6

KAROO GOLD should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to be steadied at the 300m mark and had to be switched at the 250m mark. His effort when second over 2200m on the polytrack, three runs ago was eye-catching. The son of Ideal World should enjoy racing on this track. He jumps from a good draw of three and can return to winning ways.

HAROLD THE DUKE was running on when second over 2000m on the polytrack last time. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from seven starts on this course. He is in a good space and merits obvious inclusion.

PUERTO PLATA has fair consistent form lines to his credit. Both his career victories have come on this course. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can feature.

RACE 7

MASKED VIGILANTE has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung inwards and cast a shoe in running. He takes a drop back in class and with luck in running, he can notch up his seventh-career victory.

SON OF ZEUS is better than his last start in the Western Cape. He has won twice and finished third once from six starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

GUNSMOKE finished 0.5 lengths behind GOLDEN PAVILION last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

RACE 8

LOVEGRASS is having her first run for the Alan Greeff yard and she is the stable elect with Richard Fourie in the saddle. She takes a slight drop in class and is back against her own sex. If settled into her new surroundings and in this type of field, she should have good improvement to come.

ARTICUNO is the stable companion of the top choice. She took on much stronger over 1100m on the polytrack last time. On previous form, she should be a big runner.

DAFNES DAUGHTER is better than her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She won her only attempt on this course. On her previous form, she should be involved at the finish
