RACE 1

SERENDIPITOUS‘ last start can be ignored as the work rider’s stirrup leather broke at the 300m mark. Her penultimate run when second over 1000m on this course, catches the eye. The daughter of Captain Of All is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. From her good draw of four, she should shed her maiden tag.

STRING OF LIGHTS ran on well when second over 1000m on the turf last time. If not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should be involved at the finish.

GOTCHA BUZZ ran a good race when second over 1200m on this course last time. She lost two lengths leaving the start, ran on well and fought hard all the way to the line. If jumping on terms, she should be competitive.

RACE 2

OLIVER TWIST is lightly raced with good form lines to his credit. He set the pace over this C&D last time before getting outrun late by Karoo Gold. The son of Ideal World is a progressive type. He meets the right field and can go one better.

MAYOR OF MERRIVALE finished 2 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

AGAMEMNON‘S last three starts have been fair. He stayed on when third over 1400m on the turf last time. If bringing his turf form to the polytrack, he should earn another cheque.

RACE 3

TAKE YOUR TIME showed massive improvement when fourth over 1600m on this course last time. She jumped outwards leaving the start and stayed on nicely at the finish. The daughter of Legislate should have no issues with the rise to 2000m. She carries a light mass of 51.5kgs and with a bit of luck in running, she may be the one to cause the upset.

ONE WISH finished 0.1 lengths behind ANGEL OF MY HEART last time. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has plenty of scope and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

ANGEL OF MY HEART has fair recent form lines to her credit. She finished second in her penultimate run on this course. Despite carrying top weight, she should earn another cheque for her patrons.

RACE 4

MARQUEZ was his own worst enemy leaving the start last time as he lost two lengths. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The son of Rafeef won his only attempt over this C&D. If jumping on terms, he may be the one to beat.

EYJAFJALLAJOKULL was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1300m on this course. Marco van Rensburg’s riding style should suit the 5yo gelding. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

GRADUATION TIME finished 2.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. He has won once and finished third twice from four starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 5

THE MAURITIAN should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung inwards in the final 300m. Two of his career victories have come over this distance. The son of Vercingetorix tries the blinkers which should keep his mind on the task at hand. If Richard Fourie is able to keep him on a straight line, he can notch up his fourth-career victory.

INHERIT THE RAIN was running on when fourth over 1400m on this course last time. He finished 0.6 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

LEDELL‘S ECHO has good recent form lines to his credit. He returns from an 11-week break. He may be at his best over shorter, but cannot be ignored.

Race 6

HAPPY HOLLY showed signs of needing her last start over 1000m on this course. The blinkers have been removed. She finished 0.1 lengths behind SPLICETHEMAINBRACE, three runs ago. She is 8kgs better off at the weights today which is enough for the tables to be turned. She will strip much fitter and with her handy galloping weight of 52kgs, she may be the one to beat.

SPLICETHEMAINBRACE is better than her last start over 1000m on the turf. She won her only attempt over this distance, in her penultimate run. If suited to the polytrack, she should go close to winning.

CAN‘T SAY NO was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over this distance on the turf. She won her only attempt over this C&D. She is drawn widest of all in barrier nine, but Xolani Ndlovu knows her well and he should give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

RACE 7

THUNDER MASTER showed some signs of a form return in his last start over 1300m on this course. He jumped awkwardly when leaving the starting stalls, but stayed on at the finish. Two of his four career victories have come over this distance. The 6yo gelding will strip a much fitter horse today and if jumping on terms, he may be the one to beat.

CATCH YOUR BREATH was an easy winner of her last start over this C&D. She received a seven-pound penalty for that victory. With a bit of luck from her wide draw, she should give the males a run for their money.

PEDRO‘S last two starts have been good. Two of his six career victories have come over this distance. He jumps from a good draw of three and merits healthy respect.

RACE 8

GET IT DONE has very good recent form lines to her credit. She won her last start easier than the official margin suggests. The 6yo mare jumps from pole position and she can notch up her sixth-career victory.

GOLD FOR AFRICA finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. She has won twice, finished second four times and third once from 11 starts over this C&D. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

LADY WRITER has consistent form lines to her credit. She has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this distance. With a bit of luck from her awkward draw of nine, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest
