Race 1
AVERNIAN GODDESS was a beaten odds-on favourite in her last start over this distance on the turf. She took the lead at the 250m mark that day, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Ubukhwebezana. Her debut effort when second over 1400m was eye-catching. The daughter of Vercingetorix is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from the widest draw and she will be mowing down the frontrunners.
HEAD GIRL is a battling maiden but has consistent form lines to her name. She finished second in her last start over this C&D. She is having her peak run today and is one of the leading contenders.
LIKE A BUTTERFLY finished 0.3 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 2
This is a weak Conditional Maiden and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is BELLA’S PABLO. He is having his first run for the Peter Muscutt stable. He took on winners in his last start over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. If suited to the Polytrack surface, there should be good improvement to come.
ISORENDER showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1400m on this course. If confirming his recent improvement, he is capable of shedding his maiden tag in this field.
HIGH QUEUE hails from the visiting Clinton Binda stable. He stayed on when third over 1400m at the Vaal last time. The son of Master Of My Fate should love the rise to 1700m and he cannot be ignored.
Race 3
PORFIRIO over raced in the early stages of his last start over this C&D and was caught late. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from six starts over this C&D. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and if switching off early, he should be competitive.
ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD finished 0.7 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
BLAZING LIGHT won a game race in his last start over 1800m on this course. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. Sean Veale is likely to use his early gate speed to get across from the widest draw and he may be hard to peg back.
Race 4
JANE’S VISION is one of the better bets on today’s card. Her last two starts have been decent. She stayed on when fourth over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off her back and if getting a clean start, she should be hard to peg back.
SWISS PARADISE was in need of her comeback run over 1200m on this course. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
VISION OF WILL finished 1.8 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
Race 5
MASK ON is better than his last two starts. He took on stronger company over 1400m last time and raced wide around the turn in his penultimate outing over 1200m. He has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. The son of Coup De Grace has dropped to a competitive rating and from his good draw of four, he may be the one to cause the upset. N
DAKA was super-impressive when winning his last start over this C&D. He showed good speed, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. Tristan Godden is likely to adopt the same tactics and he may be hard to peg back.
LOVE IN WINTER finished 3.4 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights which is enough for the tables to be turned. However, NDAKA won easier than the official margin suggests and he may still have the upper hand.
Race 6
MISS LIALAH has consistent form lines to her name. She raced from a handy position over 1600m last time and stayed on to finish third. All five of her career victories have come over this C&D. She takes a drop back in class and from pole position, she may be the one to side with.
FORT J’ADORE’S last two starts against stronger company have been fair. She has won once and finished third once from three starts over this C&D. She takes a drop in the ratings and S’manga Khumalo may be able to get the best out of her.
PUFF OF SMOKE stayed on when second over this C&D last time. Tristan Godden retains the ride and if not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should be involved at the finish.
Race 7
COUNT MARSH ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. He raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and the combination can go one better.
BRAVE VOYAGER fought hard for his last victory over 1200m on this course. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and with Serino Moodley in the saddle, he merits healthy respect.
FATE OF FORTUNE finished 0.05 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today. He will strip a much fitter horse and cannot be left out.
Race 8
ONE IRISH ROVER is better than his last start as he was inconvenienced leaving the starting stalls and was reported to be coughing post-race. He has won once and finished second four times from eight starts over this C&D. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should return to winning ways.
BALLY MAGIC won a good race in his last start over this C&D. He finished 1.55 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate outing. He is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
KNIGHT WARRIOR ran on well when fourth over 1200m on this course last time. If keeping on a straight line, he should fight out the finish
