Race 1
WORLDLY made the expected natural improvement when third in his last start over 1000m on this course. He showed good speed but was outrun late. The son of One World is a progressive type and he should strip much fitter. He should give his older rivals a run for their money.
TAMBOURINE MAN has consistent form lines to his credit. He returns from a 13-week break which would have done him the world of good. If not in need of the run, he should pose a massive threat to the top choice.
KING VISERYS showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He challenged strongly all the way to the line, but found one too good in the form of Stars In Heaven. He is having his peak run and if confirming his recent improvement, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 2
BEREAVE has good recent form lines to his credit. He tried hard when third in the Grade 2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes last time. The 11-week break would have done him the world of good and if keeping on a straight line, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
RIO QUERARI finished 1.5 lengths behind QUESTIONING last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Aldo Domeyer is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
MUFASA showed good speed last time, but was outrun late by Dance Variety. He is in a good space and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
Race 3
CLIFF SWALLOW’S last three starts have been good. The manner in which he has been finishing off his races suggests that he will love the rise to 1400m. The son of Canford Cliffs meets the right field this afternoon and he should take a power of beating.
GROOVEJET was doing his best work late when fourth over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He will strip a much fitter horse today and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
PRINCE OF TIBET has fair recent form lines to his name. He finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 4
WATER DRAGON ran a good race when second over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Rafeef should have no issues with the rise to 1800m. The Vaughan Marshall stable are in fine form and he may be the one to side with.
ALADDIN’S LAMP has shown good improvement in each of his outings to date. He raced green around the turn last time, but stayed on well to finish second. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
ETOILEFILLANTE is better than his last start over 1600m. He finished second in his penultimate run over this C&D. If putting his best foot forward, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5
NAUSHON should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was steadied for running room at the 350m mark. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. From his good draw of two, he may be the one to beat in this field.
GREEN MANDARIN was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1800m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is in a good space and can follow up.
MASTER OF PARIS won a good race in his last start over this C&D. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory. He has a good turn of foot and merits healthy respect.
Race 6
KITCHAKAL was his own worst enemy last time as he over raced in the early stages and did not go on with the effort. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He has won once, finished second once and third once from six starts over this distance. Aldo Domeyer is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
QUATERMAIN has good consistent form lines to his credit. He finished 0.3 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
BIG UNIT took the lead at the 150m mark last time, but was caught late by All About Ronnie. He has cracked a good draw of two and should be involved at the finish.
Race 7
LITTLE MISS PINK showed good signs of a form return in her last start over this C&D. She was unlucky not to have won that day as the jockey dropped his crop in the final 100m. She is in a good space and Oswald Noach will be looking to make amends.
HANG OUT THE STARS challenged strongly in her last start but found one too good in the form of Kebonalesedi. She is back against her own sex and with just 54kgs on her back, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
TRIED AND TRUE stayed on when fourth over 1200m last time. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. She has cracked a good draw of two and must be considered.
Race 8
O’TENIKWA showed good speed when winning on debut over this C&D. The son of Vercingetorix found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. He does take on stronger, but he could be anything and can remain unbeaten.
SHIFTING PATH ran on strongly when second over 1100m last time. The ear muffs seem to have done the trick on the son of Pathfork. In this field, he should be competitive.
ON BOARD showed good speed when third over 1100m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She is a solid back up for the Andre Nel stable and she merits obvious inclusion.
Race 9
NIGHT BOMBER finished 0.2 lengths behind GRAND BAY last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. The ear muffs seem to have done the trick on the son of Lancaster Bomber and he should be involved at the finish.
GRAND BAY fought hard for his last victory over this C&D. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and is one of the leading contenders.
GUARDING THE WALL finished 2.2 lengths behind the second selection in the race referred to above. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
Race 10
PALO QUEEN finished 0.3 lengths behind STRATA last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She shows good speed in her races and may be hard to peg back.
STRATA was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She has found her confidence and should be involved at the finish.
TANNERON was an easy winner of her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Var takes on stronger, but she has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand
