Race 1

LATE DECEMBER finished 0.55 lengths behind SAIL THE SEAS last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms but the barrier position could make the difference. The son of Rafeef should love the rise to 1400m and from pole position, he may be the one to side with.

KRIM showed good improvement when second in his last start over 1200m. The son of Vercingetorix should have no issues with the extra furlong on offer and he is one of the leading contenders.

SAIL THE SEAS produced a promising debut effort over 1200m. He fought hard but found one too good in the form of Bank Street. The son of Vercingetorix would have gained from the experience and with luck in running, he should go close to winning.

Race 2

SAHARA CAT is a winner of her last two starts over 1000m. She returns from a 16-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of One World should have no issues with the rise to 1500m and if not in need of this outing, she can notch up the hat-trick.

MISS WORLD stayed on when second over 1200m last time. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1500m. She is the stable elect with Corne Orffer in the saddle and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

KINDA WONDERFUL was unlucky not to have won her last start as her pilot dropped his reins in the closing stages. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has ability and Craig Zackey will be looking to make amends.

Race 3

SPIRIT GUIDE raced from just off the pace over this C&D last time and rallied late to finish second. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight meets the right field this afternoon and she can go one better.

PINK MOON may not have seen out the 1400m last time. She finished 2.1 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

HUSH MONEY was in need of her debut effort over this C&D. She returns from a 13-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and the daughter of Vercingetorix should make the natural improvement.

Race 4

SILVER SCREEN finished 1.4 lengths behind FIRST MASTERPIECE last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If not in need of this outing, she can notch up her fourth-career victory.

NIGHT VIGIL finished 1.15 lengths behind SHE’S MY CAPTAIN last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

SHE’S MY CAPTAIN was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1000m on this course. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. Richard Fourie retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.

Race 5

PORQUE TE VAS finished 1.5 lengths behind MOJO MAN last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won three times and finished second four times from 13 starts over this C&D. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

MOJO MAN quickened up well to win his last start over this C&D. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. He meets a similar field this afternoon and merits healthy respect.

NORDIC CHIEF won a good race in his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is in a good space and cannot be ignored.

Race 6

COASTAL COMMANDER raced from a handy position over 1400m last time and drew off well in the closing stages. His effort when second over this C&D, three runs ago was encouraging. Ashton Arries retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

SUGAR MOUNTAIN raced wide around the turn last time, but stayed on to finish fourth. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. With luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

ZAPATILLAS showed signs of needing his comeback run over 1400m on this course. He has won once and finished third twice from five starts over this distance. He will strip a much fitter horse and can return to best form.

Race 7

ONE STRIPE is a winner of his last three starts, the latest of which was in the Grade 3 Winter Nursery. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of One World has plenty of class and he should love the rise to 1500m. He is in a good space and he should take a power of beating.

ALL OUT FOR SIX is a winner of his last two starts over 1400m. He set the pace last time and lasted long enough. If seeing out the 1500m, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

TALK TO THE MASTER should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was steadied for running room at the 300m mark. The son of Master Of My Fate is bred to enjoy the rise in distance and he can finish in the placings.

Race 8

KYALAMI GIRL should have finished closer to the winner last time as she was carried off a straight line and had to be checked at the 100m mark. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Querari is back against her own sex and with luck in running, she should go close to winning.

NORDIC QUEST finished 0.3 lengths behind SOUTHERN SKIES last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

SOUTHERN SKIES was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1200m on this course. She finished second in her penultimate run over this C&D. The blinkers will be fitted for this outing and she merits healthy respect.

Race 9

TIME FOR LOVE has good consistent form lines to her credit. She raced from a handy position in the Listed Stormsvlei Stakes and stayed on to finish third. The daughter of Time Thief should have no issues with the rise to 1950m and she may be the one to side with.

RAINBOW LORIKEET finished 1.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

NAVY STRENGTH may be the first male past the post. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. On best form shown, he should be involved at the finish.

Race 10

TWICE THE MASTER moved up like a winner over this C&D last time but found one too good in the form of Marshall Field. He has won over this C&D previously. Oswald Noach knows him well and from his good draw of three, he can go one better.

DAIMYO finished 3.3 lengths behind BATON ROUGE last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Vercingetorix will be staying on at the business end.

BATON ROUGE’S last two starts have been good. He steps up to 2200m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he may be hard to peg back
