PARENTAL GUIDANCE should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung outwards in the run down to the line. His debut victory over 1000m on this course was eye-catching. The son of Querari will love the extra 100m on offer and if keeping on a straight line, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

CLAIR DE LUNE challenged strongly in the Non-Black Type Charles Dickens Stakes last time, but found one too good in the form of Black Cheetah. The well-bred daughter of Trippi is progressive and is one of the leading contenders.

INSTAWORTHY showed good speed when winning on debut over 800m at Fairview. The daughter of Canford Cliffs could be anything and if all went well with her travels, she would not be a shock winner.

SILVA CITY made the expected natural improvement when winning her last start over 800m at Fairview. She finished 0.5 lengths behind the third choice on debut. She should have no issues with 1100m and cannot be ignored

Race 2 - Maine Chance Farms Majorca Stakes (Gr 1) 1600m

DOUBLE GRAND SLAM was super-impressive when winning the Grade 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes last time. She was settled in the early stages, quickened up well and drew off in the run down to the line. She has won once, finished second once and third twice from five starts over this distance. The daughter of Vercingetorix is in a very good space and she should notch up her eighth-career victory.

RASCOVA finished 2.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

FATAL FLAW won an impressive race in the Grade 1 WSB Cape Fillies Guineas last time. She set the pace, found another kick and drew clear at the finish. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She takes on older but carries a handy galloping mass of 55kgs, and should be involved at the finish.

SCARLET MACAW finished 2 lengths behind the third choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result

Race 3 - Tsogo Sun Summer Fling Stakes (Gr 3) 2000m

SAARTJIE has been disappointing in her last two starts. The stable have opted to fit her with blinkers which should keep her mind on the task at hand. The daughter of Dynasty won her only attempt over this C&D. She jumps from a good draw of two and if putting her best foot forward, she should be too good for this field.

RAINBOW LORIKEET was not disgraced when fourth in the Grade 1 Cartier Paddock Stakes last time. The manner in which she finished off that race suggests that she should have no issues with the 2000m. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

GOLD POKER GAME has fair consistent form lines to her credit. She finished 2 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

JOY AND PEACE hails from the visiting Alan Greeff stable. She was an easy winner over this distance at Fairview last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate faces her toughest test to date, but she has ability and should give a good account of herself

 

 

Race 4 - New Turf Carriers WC Stayers (Gr 3) 2800m

MUCHO DINERO stayed on when 3.25 lengths behind KING PELLES in the Grade 3 Glorious Goodwood Chairman’s Cup last time. He is 7.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The son of Twice Over should have no issues with the rise to 2800m and he can return to winning ways.

POETS WARRIOR is a winner of his last three starts on the Highveld. He set the pace in the Non-Black Type Racehorse Owners Association last time and drew clear. If suited to this course, he should be hard to peg back.

TRIPLE TIME stayed on at the finish in the Grade 2 Anthonij Rupert Wyne Premier Trophy last time. He finished second in this race last year. Richard Fourie retains the ride and he would not be a shock winner.

HOLDING THUMBS finished 1.75 lengths behind KING PELLES last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. With luck from the widest draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest

Race 5 - Winx Class 3 - 1400m

CAPTAIN WEST met a competitive field in the Grade 2 Cape Punters Cup last time. One Stripe has come out and won two Grade 1 races since. The son of One World has been gelded which may have done the trick. He is a horse with ability and if not in need of the run, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

SOLOMONS SEAL finished 0.2 lengths behind THE GREY KING last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The son of Potala Palace has cracked pole position and he may be rewarded for consistency.

THE GREY KING fought hard for his last victory over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won twice from three starts over this C&D. If getting his own way in front, he may be hard to peg back.

MAKAZOLE is better than his last start in the Grade 3 Cape Classic. He returns from a 12-week break, during which time he was gelded. If not in need of this outing, there should be improvement to come

Race 6 - SABC Olympic Duel Stakes (Listed) - 1200m

SUMMER LILY has consistent form lines to her credit. She was not disgraced when fourth in the Grade 2 Cartier Sceptre Stakes last time. Her best form has come under Jockey Grant van Niekerk. If jumping on terms, she should be the one to beat.

NORDIC QUEST finished 1.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. Her inside draw is a big plus and she is one of the leading contenders.

SYMPHONY IN WHITE was a tad disappointing in the Grade 2 Cartier Sceptre Stakes last time. The daughter of What A Winter has class about her and if putting her best foot forward, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

CANDY TOWN showed plenty of speed when winning the Non-Black Type Franschhoek Motor Museum Winchester Sprint Cup last time. If seeing out the 1200m, she should be hard to peg back with Corne Orffer back in the saddle

 

 

Race 7 - HKJC World Pool Cape Flying Championship (Gr 1) - 1000m

DYCE was touched off in his last start over this distance at Turffontein. He won his three starts prior to that outing easier than the official margin suggests. The son of William Longsword won this race last year and if all went well with his travels, he should defend his title.

GIMME A PRINCE ran a good race when third in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate last time. He won his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is likely to race from off the pace and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

QUESTIONING has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He was running on too late when second in the Non-Black Type Franschhoek Motor Museum Winchester Sprint Cup last time. If not too far out of his ground at the halfway mark, it would not be a surprise to see him in the winner’s enclosure.

ASIYE PHAMBILI is a mare taking on the males. She won a good race in the Grade 2 Cartier Sceptre Stakes last time. She won the Grade 3 WSB Southern Cross Stakes over this distance in her penultimate run. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect

Race 8 - WORLD SPORTS BETTING CAPE TOWN MET (GR 1) - 2000m

EIGHT ON EIGHTEEN stayed on when second in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas behind One Stripe. The son of Lancaster Bomber should love the rise to 2000m. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and is one of the leading contenders.

ORIENTAL CHARM was disappointing in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate last time. The son of Vercingetorix is much better than that outing and will love the rise to 2000m. From his good draw of three, he should be hard to peg back at the finish.

MONTIEN ran a good race when second in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate last time. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should be involved in the fight to the finish

Race 9 - City of Cape Town Politician Stakes (Gr 3) - 1800m

MAJOR MASTER was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1400m on this course. The son of Master Of My Fate will be at home over 1800m. Sean Veale retains the ride and he should be the one to beat.

REGULATION won his last start over 1600m easier than the official margin suggests. He finished 5.1 lengths behind the top selection in his penultimate run. The son of Legislate is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

SAIL THE SEAS won a good race in his last start over 1400m on this course. The son of Vercingetorix will love the rise to 1800m, but the widest draw is an obvious concern. With a bit of luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

GARRIX was doing his best work late when 3.8 lengths behind the third selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. It is encouraging that Aldo Domeyer steps back into the saddle and he cannot be ignored

Race 10 - Scheppes Class 4 - 1400m

This is a competitive Class 4 contest and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is COMMANDING from the Glen Kotzen stable. He set the pace over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Garrix. Chad Little retains the ride aboard the son of William Longsword and if getting his own way in front, he may be hard to peg back.

PLEASE BE TRUE is lightly raced with decent form lines to his credit. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he cannot be left out.

UNICORN ALERT was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1600m. He finished 1.95 lengths behind WORLD OF PLEASURE in his penultimate run. He is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

WORLD OF PLEASURE rallied late when winning his last start over this C&D. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory. With a bit of luck in running, he can follow up with another victory

 

 

Race 11 - World Sports Betting A Stakes - 1400m

SNOW PILOT is the top bet on the programme. He is better than his last start in the Grade 1 L’Ormarins King’s Plate. He won his previous two efforts over this distance with ease. The son of Lancaster Bomber is at his best over this distance. Richard Fourie is likely to use his early gate speed to overcome the widest draw and he should take a power of beating.

THE REAL PRINCE stayed on when fourth in the Grade 2 De Grendel Cape Merchants last time. He won his penultimate outing over this distance. The son of Gimmethegreenlight may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

RAPIDASH was a tad disappointing in the Grade 2 Anthonij Rupert Wyne Premier Trophy last time. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should be involved at the finish.

ALL OUT FOR SIX is better than his last start in the Grade 1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas. He may be the horse to make life difficult for SNOW PILOT. If getting his own way in front, he would not be a shock winner
