Race 1

ROCCAPINA is the best bet on the programme. She produced a promising debut effort over this C&D, three weeks ago. She challenged strongly all the way to the line but found one too good in the form of Worldcraft. The daughter of One World would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should take a power of beating.

STU’S GIRL is the stable companion of the top choice. Her last two starts have been fair. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth in her last outing has come out and won since. The daughter of Danon Platina may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

LOTUS ISLAND is an unraced daughter of Ideal World from the Justin Snaith stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. If not in need of this outing, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other first timers in this contest.

Race 2

SUMMER SNOW has shown good improvement in each of his outings to date. He raced from a prominent position over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish second. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of What A Winter is a progressive type and can go one better.

BILLY COOL showed improvement when third over 1200m last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He should have no issues with the drop to 1000m and with Grant van Niekerk in the saddle, he may have more to come.

IKO IKO was a tad disappointing in his last start over this C&D. He returns from a 17-week break, during which time he was gelded. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 3

PENTOLINA raced wide around the turn last time which did not help her cause. Her penultimate run when third over this C&D, catches the eye. The daughter of One World has cracked a good draw of three and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she may be the one to side with.

GREENLIGHT SKYE showed good improvement when second in her last start over this C&D. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is a progressive type and she is one of the leading contenders.

CORAL BLAZE finished 0.5 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. She has a good draw of four and must be included in all bets.

Race 4

SONG TO THE MOON challenged strongly in his last start over this C&D, but was touched off by Noon Day Gun. The son of What A Winter is the form horse in the race and he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

LOOK FORWARD has been taking on winners in her last three starts. She is better than her last outing and on her previous form, she should give the males a run for their money.

GIMMETHELIMELIGHT is better than her last start as she was reported to be coughing. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. She is having her peak run today and can show improvement.

Race 5

KWITE A KING has finished third in his last three starts over 1800m. The son of Vercingetorix returns from a 14-week break which would have done him the world of good. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the rise to 1950m. If not in need of this outing, he may be the one to side with.

FRENCH TRIP finished 2.5 lengths behind JACK IN THE GREEN last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

JACK IN THE GREEN may have cost himself winning last time as he hung in the final 400m. He should have no issues with the rise to 1950m and if keeping on a straight line, he can go one better.

Race 6

AMONG THE CLOUDS’ last start can be ignored as she was reported to have over reached on her left fore. Her two previous outings over 1400m were encouraging. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber should have no issues with the rise to 1800m. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

PLUM PUDDING finished 1.25 lengths behind COULDITBE last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She always gives of her best and merits healthy respect.

BASIC MANEUVERS finished 1.45 lengths behind COULDITBE in the race referred to above. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should turn the form around.

Race 7

SPIRIT’S UNITE finished 0.4 lengths behind LIKETHECLAPPERS last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. The son of The United States has cracked a handy draw of five which would make the difference. Aldo Domeyer is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

LIKETHECLAPPERS set the pace over this C&D last time but found one too good in the form of Kelp Forest who has come out and won again since. JP van der Merwe is likely to adopt the same tactics and he may be hard to peg back.

GOLD INDEX finished 0.8 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 8

GO LIKE FLO has good consistent form lines to her credit. She finished 1.2 lengths behind QHAWEKAZI in her penultimate run. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is likely to race on the speed and she may be hard to peg back.

QHAWEKAZI is much better than her last start in the Listed Ladies Mile. She is unbeaten from two starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and she should pose a threat.

GLEE CLUB stayed on when second over 1600m last time. She finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 9

ALL ABOUT AL finished 1.75 lengths behind ESCARPMENT last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Two of his four career victories have come over this C&D. Corne Orffer retains the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

MIGHTY MAC finished 1 length behind ESCARPMENT in the race referred to above. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

ESCARPMENT showed good speed when winning his last start over this C&D, in this Class. He received a four-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Canford Cliffs is in a good space and can show
