Race 1
TANNERON produced an eye-catching debut effort over this C&D. She challenged strongly all the way to the line, but was touched off by Sahara Cat. The daughter of Var would have gained from the experience and with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle, she should take a power of beating.
DUCHESS OF PALOMA took on winners in the Non-Black Type Cape Racing Sales Cape Slipper last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. If finding the form of her debut run, she should pose a massive threat.
ARTISTE is an unraced daughter of Canford Cliffs from the Brett Crawford stable with Luyolo Mxothwa in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners including Born To Perform and Step Lively. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other first timers.
Race 2
ALADDIN’S LAMP showed good improvement in his last start over 1200m. He finished 1.15 lengths behind MOONACRES that day. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Master Of My Fate will love the rise to 1400m and he can win a race of this nature.
MOONACRES has shown improvement in his last two starts. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the rise to 1400m. From his good draw of three, he should be involved at the finish.
TOM’S DINER’S last two starts have been fair. The 1400m should be right up his alley. He is likely to race on the speed from the widest draw and may be hard to peg back.
Race 3
MANEKI NEKO was running on when second in a work riders race over 1000m last time. The son of Danon Platina will enjoy the step up to 1200m. Aldo Domeyer steps back into the saddle and he can go one better.
EXPLOSIVE SPEED has shown improvement in his last two starts. He finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
CONNERY stayed on at the finish over 1000m last time but found one too good in the form of Star Performer. If finding the form of his penultimate run over this C&D, he should be involved at the finish.
Race 4
PHILOSOPHISE was running on when third over 1400m on this course last time. She has won twice from four starts over this C&D. She does have a wide draw to overcome, but Aldo Domeyer knows her well and he should give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
ENCHANTING CHOICE stayed on when third over this C&D last time. She is back in Class 4 Company and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
HAMPSTEAD HEATH ran on powerfully when winning her maiden over this C&D. The daughter of Rafeef takes on stronger this afternoon, but she has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 5
LE LEGIONNAIRE showed very good improvement in his last start over 1400m on this course. He was slow into stride, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He will love the step up to the mile and should be at peak fitness. From his good draw of four, he can return to winning ways.
ABERDEEN finished 1.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this distance.
FAIRE ADVANTAGE’S last two starts in Class 4 Company have been fair. He takes on weaker company this afternoon and the blinkers have been re-fitted. Improvement is expected from the son of Trippi.
Race 6
LUCE VERDE has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He was running on when second over 1800m last time. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will love the rise to 2000m. In this field, he can go one better.
FLY FUTURA finished 0.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. If seeing out the 2000m, he should be competitive.
SUMMER NIGHT CITY’S last two starts have been good. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. The blinkers have done the trick and she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 7
This is a competitive Class 5 contest for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is LOOK FORWARD from the Mike Stewart stable. She ran a good race when third in her last start over 1200m on this course. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Craig Zackey may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
FLY TO RIO won a good race in her last start over this C&D. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and with luck in running, she can follow up.
YOUREYESONLY finished 2.3 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 8
NIGHT BOMBER finished 0.25 lengths behind BOOGIEFIED last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. The son of Lancaster Bomber has dropped in the ratings and he may be hard to peg back.
BOOGIEFIED has not finished too far off the winner in his last two starts. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
