FLYING FINLEY produced a promising debut effort in a work riders race over 1100m, on this course. He challenged strongly all the way to the line, but found one too good in the form of Rafa Bay. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of Oratorio would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat. 

SUMMER SNOW ran a decent race over 1200m on this course last time. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. He is having his peak run and may be the one to fill the exacta spot. 

VIVO PER LEI showed good improvement when facing winners in her last start over 1200m on this course. She showed good speed before getting outrun late. If confirming that effort, she should give the males a run for their money. 

Race 2

ASINANTANGA has shown good improvement in each of his outings to date. He raced wide around the turn over 1800m last time, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Rafeef should love the rise to 2000m. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can shed his maiden tag. 

GOLDEN GREY stayed on when third over this C&D last time. He jumps from pole position and if getting away to a clean start, he should pose a massive threat. 

EXPRESS YOURSELF should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung outwards in the closing stages. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the rise to 2000m. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should be competitive. 

Race 3

PINOT GRIGIO followed up his maiden victory with a good third-place finish over 1600m, on this course. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day suggests that he will love the rise to 2000m. The son of The United States has plenty of scope and with a bit of luck from his awkward draw of eight, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure. 

GROOVEJET won a good race in his last start over 1950m. He has finished second twice from as many starts over this distance. The son of Silvano always gives of his best and merits healthy respect. 

KWITE A KING finished 2.2 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 4

ZEITZ won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over this C&D last time. He raced from a handy position, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. The blinkers clearly have done the trick and he is the stable elect with Corne Orffer in the saddle. The son of Vercingetorix takes on stronger, but he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand. 

AIR RAID was running on when second over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He should have no issues with the rise to the mile and is one of the leading contenders. 

HOODIA‘S last two starts have been good. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from seven starts on this course. With a bit of luck in running, he should have a say. 

 

 

Race 5

EMPIRE STATE moved up like a winner over 1400m last time before getting caught in the shadow of the post by World Of Pleasure. The son of Rafeef has class about him and if seeing out the 1600m, he should be the one to beat. He is the stable elect with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle. 

PRIME VENTURE finished 1.5 lengths behind the top selection last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. 

GENTLEMAN JOE won a game race in his last start over this C&D. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He is in a good space and can follow up. 

Race 6

KAMCHATKA is lightly raced with good form lines to her credit. She stayed on when second over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Hampstead Heath. The daughter of Erupt is versatile and she can return to winning ways. 

JET TO THE SUN was outrun late when fifth over this C&D last time. The daughter of What A Winter is likely to race on the speed and she may be hard to peg back at the finish. 

GARDEN OF EDEN‘S effort in the Grade 2 Western Cape Fillies Championship is best ignored as the saddle was reported to have slipped. She won on debut over 1400m at long odds. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie is booked to ride and she should have a say in the outcome of this contest. 

Race 7

TAMBOURINE MAN finished 0.5 lengths behind XPLICIT CONTENT last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He has won once, finished second twice and third three times from nine starts over this C&D. If jumping on terms, he can notch up his second-career victory. 

XPLICIT CONTENT has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. In this type of field, he should be involved at the finish. 

CHAMPAGNE MAC is better than his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should be competitive. 

Race 8

ARTISTE ran on well when winning her last start over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. She returns from a 21-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and if not in need of this outing, she should be too good for this field. 

KYALAMI GIRL was running on when second over 1200m on this course last time. She has won once, finished second three times and third once from eight starts on this course. If keeping on a straight line, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice. 

FUN ZONE was running on when third over 1400m on this course last time. If not too far out of her ground at the halfway mark, she should be a solid back up for the Candice Bass-Robinson stable
