Race 1
DANCINGTOTHELIGHT should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to be steadied at the 100m mark. His penultimate run when third over this C&D was encouraging. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. With luck in running, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
TAMBOURINE MAN has good recent form lines to his credit. He has finished second once and third twice from five starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
CONGRESSMAN finished 2 lengths behind the second selection on debut. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result.
Race 2
Trainer Candice Bass-Robinson holds a strong hand in this contest and she can saddle the first two past the post. RAINBOW LORIKEET finished 0.25 lengths behind CALLMEGETRIX last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If not too far out of her ground turning for home, she can notch up her second-career victory.
CALLMEGETRIX rallied late to win her last start over this C&D. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from the widest draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
PRINCESS IZZY finished 2 lengths behind the second selection in the race referred to above. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair. EN
MASTER CASPER was in need of his debut effort in the Non-Black Type HeartFM Commonwealth Plate. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression.
Race 3
MR BELVEDERE challenged strongly in his last start over this C&D, but found one too good in the form of Lightning Glow. The son of Ideal World has shown good improvement with the blinkers fitted. He is a progressive type and with luck in running, he should be the one to beat.
SONG TO THE MOON was a tad disappointing in his last start. His penultimate run when second over 1200m was encouraging. The son of What A Winter is the stable elect with Grant van Niekerk in the saddle and he should have improvement to come.
GREENLAND was caught late when second over 1800m last time. He will love the drop back to the mile and merits obvious inclusion.
Race 4
AUGUSTA BLUE showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this C&D. He was running on nicely at the finish that day. The son of Gimmethegreenlight meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can go one better.
HEART STEALER finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the wire.
UNICORN ALERT finished 0.3 lengths behind FIBONACCI last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 5
INCREDIBILL moved up like a winner in his last start over 1600m, but was outrun late by No Apologies. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. His last victory came under Richard Fourie. With luck in running, he may be the one to beat.
BIG UNIT stayed on when fifth over 1600m last time. The son of Master Of My Fate should be ideally suited to 1400m. If getting away on terms from pole position, he should pose a threat.
OLIVER is better than his last start. He has won once, finished second twice and third twice from six starts over this distance. On his previous form, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 6
BEYONDTHEBOUNDARY has finished second in his last three starts. He took the lead at the 200m mark last time, but was caught late by Innamorare. He has won three times and finished second three times from eight starts over this distance. Raymond Danielson is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
FUTURE PRINCE ran a good race when second in his last start over 1600m on this course. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
CARRIACOU finished 0.4 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the wire.
Race 7
MR FROSTIE showed good speed over this C&D last time and fought hard to keep all challengers at bay. He has won twice, finished second twice and third four times from 15 starts over this C&D. He is clearly in a good space and should be hard to peg back.
SHIFTING PATH finished 1.7 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
GRAND BAY finished 2.95 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights which is not enough to turn the form around, but he should finish closer.
Race 8
YAMADORI was his own worst enemy over 1400m last time as he over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race. His form before that outing was consistent. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Lancaster Bomber has ability and if switching off early, he should notch up his third-career victory.
FUTURE VARIETY has good recent form lines to his name. He was running on when second over 1200m last time. He has finished second once and third twice from as many starts over this distance. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
ICY BLAST finished 1.9 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result
