WHAT A LUCY finished 2.4 lengths behind the second selection on debut. She found betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. The daughter of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and will love the extra furlong on offer.
Race 2
CAPE LIGHTS stayed on strongly when third over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. She has won once and finished second three times from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Ideal World is the stable elect with Muzi Yeni in the saddle and she should be the one to beat.
LADY REGENT finished 2.65 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe.
UNITED COUNCIL is the stable companion of the top choice. It must be noted that Kwazzi’s Lady has come out and won again since. She gets the change of headgear and on her peak run, she will be doing her best work at the finish.
Race 3
MANZ KNIGHT is still a maiden after 12 starts, but his last two outings have been good. He should have won last time as he hung in the final 700m. The son of Gimmethegreenlight tries the 2600m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
TIME TO MEDITATE finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. He did finish second in his penultimate run over this C&D and cannot be ignored.
DESERT FOX finished 1.35 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. The pair do meet on the same weight terms and he may battle to turn the tables
Race 4
SPIN DOCTOR stayed on when fifth over 1800m on the Standside course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he should have no issues with the 2600m. In this type of field, he can notch up his fifth career victory.
ZEUS showed some signs of a form return in his last start over 3000m on this course. He finished 2.65 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
OPERA GLASS is better than her last start over 1800m at the Vaal. She carries a handy galloping mass of 51kgs and should give the males a run for their money.
Race 5
THE INKOSANA stayed on when third over 1800m on this course, five weeks ago. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from six starts on this course. The son of Louis The King meets the right field today and he should be the one to beat.
ANGEL‘S WISH ran a good race when third over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. She took the lead at the 200m mark that day, but was outrun late. She is suited to this course and can feature.
ROSY LEMON ran a fair race over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She has dropped to a competitive rating and can feature.
Race 6
CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung from the 250m mark. He won his two previous outings under Denis Schwarz. Four of his eight career victories have come over this distance and he should take a power of beating.
BIG EYED GIRL tried hard in her last start over this distance on the Standside course. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. Three of her five career victories have come on this course and she is one of the leading contenders.
TEXAS RED returns from a 23-week break and is having his first run for the Robyn Klaasen stable. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts on this course. If not in need of the run, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 7
TUSCAN GOLD‘S last four starts have been decent. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry- ripe. The son of Visionaire takes a drop-in class and Gavin Lerena may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
COMING IN HOT stayed on when third over this distance at the Vaal last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He won his only attempt over this C&D and should be one of the leading contenders.
LIFE GOES ON finished 1.35 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result
Race 8
CABINET SHUFFLE was not beaten far in the Grade 1 Mercury Sprint last time. His two starts prior to that outing were good. He is unbeaten from two starts over this distance. The 6yo gelding jumps from a good draw of four and can return to winning ways.
QUANTUM THEORY moved up like a winner over 1450m last time, but was outrun late by Eye Of The Prophet. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
DANILO DANILOVITCH finished 0.3 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 9
ELUSIVE SWANN has finished fourth in his last three starts. He lost a length leaving the start last time, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. Four of his six career victories have come over this distance and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.
MO THE MAN raced wide around the turn over 1800m last time and understandably lacked a finish in the straight. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. From his good draw of three, he should pose a massive threat.
RATTLE BAG was an easy winner of her last start over 1400m on the Standside course. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. She has cracked a good draw of two and should give the males a run for their money
