Race 1
JILTED showed good improvement in her last start over 1450m on the Inside course. She was slow into stride but ran on strongly to finish second. The daughter of Fire Away will love the rise to 1600m. She is a progressive type and with Craig Zackey in the saddle, she can go one better.
I BELONG ran a fair race over 1200m on the Inside course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He tries the mile for the first time and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, he is one of the leading contenders.
INGQWELE took on winners in his last start over 1400m on this course. He should love the rise to the mile and back in Maiden Company, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 2
POINTER made the expected natural improvement when shedding her maiden tag at the second time of asking. She raced from just off the pace, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Canford Cliffs is a progressive type and she can follow up with another victory.
GIMMEFABULOUS was in need of her comeback run over 1200m at the Vaal last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. She is back against her own age group and improvement is expected.
FORCE EIGHT took on males in her last start over 1200m on the Inside course. Her two previous outings were encouraging. Muzi Yeni steps back into the saddle and she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 3
TIPPERARY ran a decent race when third over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber should have no issues with the rise to 1800m. She meets the right field and can shed her maiden tag.
WHISTLEDOWN has shown improvement in her last two starts under Nathan Klink. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. She should be ideally suited to 1800m and is one of the leading contenders.
CHICAGO LASS ran a decent race in her last start over 1600m at the Vaal. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. From her good draw of three, she cannot be ignored.
Race 4
ERIMITAGE has fair form lines to his credit. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last outing has come out and won since. The son of Potala Palace is bred to love the rise to 1800m. Piere Strydom sticks with the ride and he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
MASTER TIK TOK has finished third in his last three starts. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. Muzi Yeni is likely to settle him near the rear of the field from his wide draw and he will be mowing down the frontrunners.
DOUGLAS DRAGON is better than his last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss in running. His previous two efforts when second were encouraging. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and if putting his best foot forward, he should feature.
Race 5
ENCHANTING LADY has consistent form lines to her credit. She ran a good race when fourth in her last start over 1000m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. It is encouraging that Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and she should return to winning ways.
SIMPLY MAGIC ran a decent race when fourth over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. The 5yo mare is in a good space and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
GOLDEN CHANDELIER finished 2.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is only 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned.
Race 6
POCKET WATCH was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1600m on this course. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the extra furlong on offer. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and against similar company, he can follow up.
CELTIC RUSH finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
TROIS TROIS QUATRE was doing his best work late when fourth over this distance on the Inside course last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He will enjoy racing on the Standside course and can earn another cheque.
Race 7
MOVER AND SHAKER ran a good race when fourth over 1000m on this course last time. He showed good speed before getting outrun late. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and in this field, he may be hard to peg back.
TAIKONAUT finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT’S last start can be ignored as he was reported to be changing strides in running. It must be noted that Lucky Lad has come out and won a Grade 1 since. On his best form shown, he should go close.
Race 8
RAISEAHALLELUJAH was doing his best work at the finish when second in the Listed Lonsdale Stirrup Cup last time. He has won once and finished second three times from five starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
BREEZE OVER was caught late when second in the Listed TAB Gold Bowl last time. He has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
MAMBO COME TESIO was running on too late when second over this C&D last time. The son of Mambo In Seattle is in a good space and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 9
This is a competitive Classified Stakes field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is PUTINS PROMISE from the Kobus Roux stable. He took the lead at the 200m mark last time before getting outrun late by Avoontoast. He has cracked a good draw of three and may be the one to side with.
VIVA DE JANEIRO’S last start must be ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. He has finished second once and third twice from as many starts on this course. On best form shown, he should go close to winning.
ZIP CODE should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the final 300m. He won his maiden over this C&D, in his penultimate start. The son of Global View has scope and with Richard Fourie booked to ride, he cannot be ignored
