Winning Form selections for racing from the Vaal on Monday 6th January where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge

Note, this meeting has been re-scheduled from it's original venue of Turffontein and date of Sunday 5th January and will now be run on the Vaal Classic course.

Race 1 

KWAGGA BLITZ showed good speed over 1200m at the Vaal last time before getting outrun late by Vibe Sa. He runs well for Calvin Habib and can shed his maiden tag in this field.

PAUL REVERE finished 1.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

FUTURENAIRE ran a fair race on debut over 1000m on this course. He understandably raced green, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. He would have gained from the experience and should love the extra distance on offer.

Race 2

GREAT NOTION took the lead at the 400m mark last time, but found one too good in the form of Todoque. She drops to 1160m and the blinkers should sharpen her up. Piere Strydom retains the ride and she can go one better.

PRETTY PRECIOUS stayed on when third over 1200m at the Vaal last time. She has been costly to follow but the cheekpieces may have the desired effect.

GIMME A STORM finished 0.6 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

Race 3

ROAMING SPIRIT has produced four good runs to date. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1600m. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

GERBERA finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and there should not be much separating them at the finish. She is carded to race on 02 January 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

THE MIGHTIEST showed good improvement over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. Piere Strydom does duty and if confirming that effort, she should have a say.

Race 4

SPIRITO SELVAGGIO ran a good race when second in his last start over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course. He will love the rise to 1600m and should strip much fitter. Ryan Munger does duty and he may be the one to beat.

MOUNTAIN HIGH was a beaten odds-on favourite over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. If seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should pose a massive threat.

LIGHTINTHESTORM has run two fair races for Tyrone Zackey. He is the stable elect with Philasande Mxoli in the saddle and he can finish in the placings.

Race 5

ZEUS was not disgraced in the Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won three times and finished third twice from six starts over this C&D. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and he is the horse to beat.

RED MAPLE won a good race over 2000m at the Vaal last time. She has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. She is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money.

CRIMSON KING was in need of his last start over 2000m. He won his only attempt over this C&D. He will strip much fitter and improvement is expected. 

Race 6

TEXAS RED stayed on at the finish over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Main Defender. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. Kabelo Matsunyane is booked to ride and he may be able to get the best out of him where it matters most.

POMODORO‘S JET was an easy winner of the Non-Black Type WSB Grand Heritage last time. He has won four times, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

TRUTH was caught late when second over 1400m last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He is the best weighted runner in this contest and merits healthy respect.

Race 7

SALENIO PENINSULA finished 0.7 lengths behind MISS LIA last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. She is the stable elect with Gavin Lerena in the saddle and may be the one to side with.

MISS LIA won a good race over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. She finished second in her penultimate run over this C&D. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

BAKWENA challenged strongly when second over 1160m on this course last time. She should have no issues with the rise in distance and she should be involved.

Race 8

GREATERIX went way too fast up front in the Grade 2 Betway Dingaans last time and understandably did not go on with the effort. The son of Vercingetorix should be ideally suited to this distance and it is encouraging that Piere Strydom is booked to ride. He is a horse loaded with class and should be the one to beat.

COSMIC SPEED won a good race in his seasonal debut over 1160m on this course. He would have come on from the run and should strip fitter. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should fight out the finish.

FIRE ATTACK found one too good in the form of Quid Pro Quo last time. The widest draw is an obvious concern, but Calvin Habib knows him well and should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 9

BIG BOY BRUCE was given a perfect ride when winning his last start over 1160m on this course. He raced from just off the pace and found extra where it matters most. The drop to 1000m should not pose an issue and he can follow up with another victory.

LONGSWORD has fair form lines to his name. He returns from a 12-week break which may have done him the world of good. If not in need of this outing, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

BEAMONESQUE‘S last two starts have been fair. He returns from a 15-week break. He finished third in his only attempt over this distance and cannot be ignored
