Race 1

WHISPERING DEATH produced a promising debut effort over 1400m at Turffontein. He was settled at the rear of the field and finished off his race strongly. The son of Danon Platina would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should go one better.

MIGHTY EAGLE was in need of his debut effort over 1160m at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He will love the extra distance on offer and should make the natural progression.

GOLDEN WARRIOR was green on debut, but stayed on at the finish. The son of Heavenly Blue is bred to love the rise to 1450m. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and he should make the natural improvement.

Race 2

EMERALD FORGE ran a good race when second on debut over 1160m at Turffontein. She jumped inwards leaving the start, but stayed on nicely at the finish. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight found betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. She will love the rise to 1450m and with the natural improvement that is expected, she is the horse to beat.

VIPINGO ran a fair race on debut over 1160m at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She takes on her own sex and is one of the leading contenders.

SISTER GOLDEN HAIR should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung outwards between the 500m mark and 300m mark. She finished 5.3 lengths behind the second selection on debut. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights and may have to settle for the same result.

Race 3

DESERT CLOUD has produced two good second place finishes to date. She jumped inwards leaving the start last time, but the manner in which she finished off her race caught the eye. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will love the rise to 1200m and she should strip fitter. If getting away to a clean start, she should give the males a run for their money.

ESPINOZA was a beaten odds-on favourite over 1000m at Turffontein last time. He returns from a 12-week break, during which time he was gelded. Should the top choice fluff her lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

AMANATTO raced wide around the turn last time and understandably did not go on with the effort. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 4

TANA MAREE has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She lost a length leaving the start last time, but stayed on nicely to finish second. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth in her last outing has come out and won since. She is a progressive type and will strip much fitter. Ryan Munger is booked to ride and she can go one better.

WINDS OF GRACE showed good improvement when third over this C&D last time. She raced from a prominent position and stayed on at the finish. She will strip much fitter and with luck from the widest draw, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

GIMME A STORM finished 0.3 lengths behind BLUE QUARTZ last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

Race 5

HUEHUETENANGO was doing his best work late when fourth over 2000m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will enjoy racing on the longer run-in. He has scope and in this field, he may be the one to beat.

GOLD DE GRACE ran a good race when third over 2000m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. If repeating that effort, he should be involved at the finish.

ROYAL MIRACLE’S last two starts have been fair. The son of Royal Mo is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Gavin Lerena retains the ride which is encouraging.

Race 6

CHIEFTAIN was a tad disappointing over 1200m on this course last time. He finished 0.3 lengths behind RONDEBOSCH in his penultimate run. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won twice and finished second twice from five starts over this distance. If putting his best foot forward, he should be competitive.

RONDEBOSCH was not disgraced when third in the Grade 3 4Racing National Currency Sprint last time. He is a consistent type and merits healthy respect.

YAMADORI won a good race over this distance at Turffontein last time. He meets a similar type of field this afternoon and can follow up.

Race 7

DARK SILVER took the lead at the 350m mark last time before getting outrun late. He finished 0.25 lengths behind DIESEL’S SHADOW that day. He is 2kgs better off at the weights and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has cracked a good draw of three and can notch up his second- career victory.

DIESEL’S SHADOW ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course. He has won twice and finished second once from six starts on this course. The son of Diesel Jet merits obvious inclusion.

HIGH QUEUE finished 2.3 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

Race 8

OMBUDSMAN moved up well over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time, before getting outrun late by Kudzu. He has won once and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most. He is carded to race on 08 March 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

AZALEAS FOR ALL stayed on when fourth over this C&D last time. She races well fresh and should give a good account of herself.

AFTER HOURS has good recent form lines to his credit. Four of his nine career victories have come on this course. Muzi Yeni knows him well and the combination merit healthy respect
