Race 1
DWIGHT EISENHOWER has shown improvement in his last two starts, the latest of which was over 1000m on this course. He raced from just off the pace, but found one too good in the form of Rondebosch. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew retains the ride and the combination can go one better.
LETS PLAY POKER finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
KWAGGA BLITZ finished 2 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 2
YOJIMBO has shown good improvement with each outing. He tried hard when second in his first run as a gelding last time. The son of Flower Alley will strip much fitter and he is the horse to beat in this field.
ICHACHA was a beaten odds-on favourite in his last two starts. He tries the 1800m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
STORM AHEAD has fair recent form lines to his credit. It must be noted that Roman’s Revenge has come out and won again since. Raymond Danielson is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
Race 3
RISING RUSSIAN showed some improvement in her last start over 2000m on this course. She stayed on at the finish that day but found one too good in the form of Fetching Flyer. The daughter of Horizon should be ideally suited to 1800m and she may be the one to beat.
QUELLO CHE finished 0.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
LUNAR RAINBOW finished 2.8 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 4
This is a competitive Merit Rated 66 Handicap and caution is advised. SMELTING from the Bridget Stidolph stable may be the one to side with. Her last two starts have been good. She has won once, finished second three times and third once from 12 starts over this C&D. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
TWICE AS WILD is better than her last start over 1000m on this course. Both her career victories have come over this C&D. On her previous form, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
PACIFIC is better than his last start suggests. If finding the form of his penultimate run, he should be the first male past the post.
Race 5
ONE PARTY stayed on when second over 1000m on this course last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. The daughter of One World will love the rise in distance and she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
CAN‘T CATCH ME showed good improvement over 1400m at the Vaal last time. She set the pace that day before getting outrun late by Tried And True. From her good draw of four, she may be the one to cause the upset.
WRITTEN IN STONE finished 2.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 6
NAZARE moved up well over 1200m on this course last time before getting outrun late by Wolf Mountain. He has won three times and finished third three times from seven starts on this course. Raymond Danielson retains the ride and against similar company, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
DOITWITHDIAMONDS won a good race in her last start over this C&D. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money.
SUPER AWESOME ran a fair race over 1200m at the Vaal last time. He finished 1.8 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
Race 7
MISS HANNIGAN has very good consistent form lines to her credit. She set the pace over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time, but was outrun late by Gimme A Shot. She has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. Despite top weight of 62kgs, she should be hard to peg back.
ALABAMA ANNA finished 0.2 lengths behind SPIRITED GIRL last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
SPIRITED GIRL set the pace over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish third. She carries another handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and should give another good account of herself.
Race 8
DESTINY OF FIRE moved up well in the Non-Black Type Beach Beauty Mile last time before getting touched off by Care Forgot. The daughter of Master Of My Fate is having her first run on the Highveld. She is the best-weighted runner and with luck in running, she should take a power of beating.
RATTLE BAG was running on when third over this C&D last time. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
RISKY BUSINESS took on much stronger in her last start over this C&D. She takes a drop in class and with Muzi Yeni back in the saddle, she should be involved at the finish
