Winning Form selections for racing from the Vaal on Thursday 16th January where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
SPIRITO SELVAGGIO ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he hung inwards in the final 300m. Ryan Munger is booked to ride and if keeping on a straight line, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
LEGENDARY showed good speed over 1200m last time, but found one too good in the form of Royal Force. The son of William Longsword has shown improvement under Raymond Danielson and he is one of the leading contenders.
SPY STORY finished 1.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 2
MOUNTAIN HIGH was a beaten odds-on favourite over this C&D last time. She raced from a prominent position, but found one too good in the form of Kalikaa. She was reported to have cast a shoe in running which didn’t help her chances. Piere Strydom steps back into the saddle and she may be rewarded for consistency.
LADY BOMBER was not disgraced when fifth in a competitive maiden over 1160m at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber will love the rise to 1450m and she can go close.
GIMME PASSION was ridden with different tactics in her last start over 1400m. She was reported to be not striding out that day. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has scope and it would not be a surprise to see her in the winner’s enclosure.
Race 3
GALLADORN has finished fourth in his last two starts, the latest of which was over 1600m. The son of Potala Palace takes a drop in class and with a bit of luck in running, he can win a race of this nature.
FAST DUTY stayed on when third over 1400m at Turffontein last time. He has won once and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and the combination merit healthy respect.
THERE SHE GOES has fair recent form lines to her credit. She has won once and finished third twice from four starts on this course. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should give the males a good run for their money.
Race 4
AMPERSAND raced from a handy position over 1400m last time and fought hard to hold all challengers at bay. He gets the services of 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will assist his cause. He drops back in class and can follow up with another victory.
ORANGE COUNTY ran a fair race in his post-maiden effort over 1600m on this course. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He is a horse with ability and is one of the leading contenders.
SOVEREIGNS CALL stayed on when second over this C&D last time. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. If jumping on terms, he should earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 5
MAIN DEFENDER was super-impressive when winning his last start over 1600m at Turffontein. He raced from a handy position, quickened up well and was geared down at the finish. The son of Pathfork is the class horse in this contest and he should take a power of beating.
MELECH ran on when third over 1160m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
BARBARESCO is better than his last start in the Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup. He won his only attempt on this course. On best form shown, he should be involved at the finish. He is carded to race on 11 January 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 6
ANOTHER UNIVERSE followed up his maiden victory with a good third-place finish over 2400m on this course. He took the lead at the 400m mark that day before getting outrun late. The son of Ideal World won his maiden over this distance. He jumps from a good draw of three and may still be ahead of the handicapper. Diego De Gouveia retains the ride and he may be the one to side with.
HAZLO GRANDE stayed on when sixth over 1800m on this course last time. His last victory came in this Class. Muzi Yeni steps into the saddle and he is one of the leading contenders.
SILVANO’S SONG was an easy winner of his last start over this distance at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he can follow up with another victory.
Race 7
VAVA VEGAS took on much stronger in the Non-Black Type WSB Heritage Consolation last time. He won a game race in his penultimate effort over 1700m. The son of The United States drops back in class and he can notch up his fifth-career victory.
CALL ME MASTER quickened up well to win his last start over this C&D. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He is drawn widest of all but Gavin Lerena knows him well and should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
GREAT BARRIER’S last three starts have been fair. She finished third in her only attempt over this distance. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most
Race 8
SILVER TUDOR was doing his best work late when fourth in the Non-Black Type WSB Grand Heritage last time. He has won once, finished second twice and third twice from six starts over this distance. He is carded to race on 11 January 2025 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 9
HAMMIES HERO is better than his last start over 1600m. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. His local debut effort over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course was encouraging. The son of Twice Over is having his peak run today and may be the one to side with in this field. BOOM BOOM has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She jumps from a good draw of four and should give the males a run for their money.
MIDNIGHT FUSION should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be checked at the 300m mark. She will strip much fitter and on best form shown, she can go close.
Race 10
Trainer Barend Botes holds a strong hand in this contest and he can saddle the first two past the post. MY ONE AND ONLY was unlucky not to have won her post maiden effort as she was baulked for running room at the 400m mark. She finished 1.65 lengths behind NEERAH that day. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
NEERAH won a good race in her last start over this C&D. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and she can go close.
PENDRAGON ran on well when winning his last start over 1200m on this course. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He should be the first male past the post
