Race 1
EMPRESSOFNORMANDY showed good improvement in her last start over this distance. She was running on too late that day and was touched off by Sugary Sweet. If repeating that effort in this field, she should go one better.
INEVITABLE finished 0.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
LADY GREENSLEEVES raced from a handy position over 1450m on this course last time, but found one too good in the form of Mount Darwin. S’manga Khumalo is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.
Race 2
JOKER MAN stayed on when second over 1160m at Turffontein. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He is the horse to beat in this line-up.
SCARLET RED showed good improvement in her last start over 1000m on this course. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the rise to 1200m. She should strip much fitter and should give the males a run for their money.
VAN MEIJEL was disappointing in his last start. The 15-week break would have done him the world of good. If finding the form of his first two career outings, he should be competitive.
Race 3
SIGRID SWING was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over this C&D. She ran on powerfully and got the upper hand late. The daughter of William Longsword received a two-pound penalty for that victory. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field once again and can follow up.
NETTLETON was running on too late when third over 1000m on this course last time. She will love the rise to 1200m and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
GRAPE SHOT stayed on when fourth over this C&D against male company last time. She drops in class and is back against her own sex. She is carded to race on 23 December 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 4
SUPER AWESOME is much better than his last two starts over 1200m. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He has been gelded which may have done the trick. He is unbeaten from two starts on this course and if not in need of the run, he can return to winning ways.
CHOCOLATE BOMB’S last two starts have been fair. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. The son of Lancaster Bomber is one of the leading contenders.
RED HOT ROSE was in need of her comeback run over 1160m at Turffontein. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. She is the best-weighted runner in this contest and should give the males a run for their money.
Race 5
GEORGE HANDEL is one of the better bets on today’s card. He was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this distance. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Oratorio is in a good space and he can follow up.
MONDIAL raced from a handy position over 1600m last time and fought hard to hold all challengers at bay. The son of Flower Alley drops back in class and merits healthy respect.
TROIS TROIS QUATRE finished 0.25 lengths behind VIVA BRAZIL last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If jumping on terms, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 6
QUANTUM ran on from last when 1 length behind A PLACE IN THE SUN last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is likely to be settled at the rear of the field once again from the widest draw. Kaidan Brewer knows her well and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
SWEET BASIL finished 1.05 lengths behind A PLACE IN THE SUN in the race referred to above. She is also 1.5kgs better off at the weights. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe.
A PLACE IN THE SUN won a good race in her last start over this distance at Turffontein. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and has a big chance.
Race 7
WYZEACT should have finished closer to the winner last time as he received a bump at the 100m mark from the winner. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The son of Act Of War looks to be above average and he is the horse to beat.
COMMAND PILOT followed up his maiden win with a fair fifth-place finish over 1400m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Lancaster Bomber has plenty of scope and should pose a threat.
SUNSHINE DAY won a good race in her last start over 1400m at Turffontein. She won her only attempt on this course, three runs ago. She is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money.
Race 8
MITCH GOT HIS WISH showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1400m at Turffontein. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He takes a drop-in class and may be the one to side with.
PEWTER SKY took on stronger in his last start over 1700m. His penultimate run when second over 1600m at Turffontein was encouraging. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
SOUTHERN BLAZE stayed on when second over 1400m at Turffontein last time. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from six starts on this course. He will strip much fitter and must be included in all bets
