Race 1 

LIKE A PRAYER showed good improvement in her last start over 1450m on this course. She set the pace and stayed on to finish third. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick on the daughter of Danon Platina. She is a progressive type and with the services of Phelisile Mongqawa, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

HIGHVELD STORM stayed on when third over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He is having his peak run and is one of the leading contenders.

OKLAHOMA TWISTER stayed on when third over 1450m on this course last time. If repeating that effort, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 2

SHES EVERYTHING raced from a handy position over 1800m last time, but found one too good in the form of Hearts On Fire. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The daughter of Erupt will love the rise to 2000m and with Muzi Yeni in the saddle, she may be the one to side with.

INSTANT ATTRACTION finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

LUNAR RAINBOW ran a decent race when second over this distance at Turffontein last time. She is back against her own sex and can earn another cheque.

Race 3

PAGE BOY ran a fair race in his first run as a gelding over 1200m. It must be noted that Vibe Sa has come out and won again since. The son of Flower Alley would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and there should be further improvement to come in this field.

SPY STORY has fair recent form lines to his credit. The son of Bezrin is one of the leading contenders in this weak line-up.

CHARIOT OF FIRE is better than his last two starts as he had excuses. He returns from an 18-week break which would have done him the world of good. If not in need of this outing, it would not be a surprise to see him win a race of this nature.

Race 4

GHOSTBUSTER showed good improvement in her last start over 1450m on this course. She jumped inwards leaving the start and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Twice Over will strip a much fitter horse today and she can improve to win a race of this nature.

FLIGHTLIGHT showed very good improvement over 1450m on this course last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

INTRO was a tad disappointing over 1200m last time. It must be noted that the horses that finished second and third that day have come out and won since. On best form shown, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest

 

 

Race 5

RANI OF KITTUR quickened up well when winning her last start over this distance. She received a five- pound penalty for that victory. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and she can notch up her fourth-career victory.

ELEMBEE finished 2.7 lengths behind the top selection last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

I AM REGAL ran a decent race when third over 2000m on this course last time. Two of her five career victories have come over this distance. She runs well for Muzi Yeni and merits healthy respect.

Race 6

SENSORIA lasted long enough when winning her last start over 1600m on this course. The daughter of One World found betting support that day. She tries the 1800m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she can follow up with another victory.

FREE IN SEATTLE’S last two starts have been good. She raced from a handy position over 2000m last time and tried hard all the way to the line. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

DESTINY OF FIRE should have finished closer to the winner last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate will love the rise to 1800m. She is carded to race on 23 January 2025 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 7

CIAN THE CONQUEROR finished 0.4 lengths behind ROLLWITHTHEPUNCHES last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts on this course. With a bit of luck in running, he can return to winning ways.

ROLLWITHTHEPUNCHES won a good race in his last start over this C&D. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he is a big runner.

CHIEFTAIN is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type Racing Today Sophomore 1000. On his previous form, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 8

VAR PARK finished 0.5 lengths behind SMITH AND WESSON last time. He is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has dropped in the ratings and can return to winning ways under Piere Strydom.

SMITH AND WESSON ran a fair race in his last start over this distance at Turffontein. Two of his four career victories have come over this C&D. He must be included in all bets.

PACIFIC stayed on when third over this C&D last time. He is in a good space and should be involved in the fight to the finish
