Race 1
SPUMANTE DOLCE is an unraced daughter of Vercingetorix from the Mike de Kock stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. She is related to Grade 1 winner Sparkling Water. If not in need of this outing, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.
GIMME PASSION is a daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Lucky Houdalakis stable with Craig Zackey booked to ride. She is related to seven-time winner Second Base. If not too green, she should give a good account of herself.
WARNING SOUND found betting support when well-beaten into second on debut. She was slow into stride, understandably raced green but stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber would have gained from the experience and should make the natural progression.
Race 2
SATYAGRAHA caught the eye when third over this C&D on debut. He lost a length leaving the start, but finished off his race strongly. The son of One World would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.
GREEN CHERRY ran a fair race on debut over 1000m on this course. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will love the rise to 1400m. Chase Maujean retains the ride and he should make the natural progression.
CHABAL was a tad disappointing in his last start over this distance at Turffontein. He ran a fair race on debut over this C&D. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 3
GLORIA MUNDI has improved in her last two starts after returning from a 17-week break. She raced from a handy position over 2000m last time and stayed on to finish third. The daughter of One World will be at peak fitness for this outing and she may be the one to side with.
CITY LIGHTS finished 0.7 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
REGINA MARIS finished 1.2 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 4
VAVA VEGAS tired late when fourth over 1600m on this course last time. His penultimate run when second over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course, catches the eye. He drops back in class and with Craig Zackey back in the saddle, he should be hard to peg back.
SILENT TRIGGER ran a fair race over 1800m on this course last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
CALLABURN finished 0.9 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 5
CONFEDERATE is lightly raced with good form lines to his credit. He raced from a handy position over 1450m on the Classic course last time, but found one too good in the form of Lava Fire. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he may be hard to peg back.
KEY NEWS stayed on when fifth over this C&D last time. It must be noted that Champion Warrior has come out and won again since. If getting away to a clean start, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
GUERILLA WARFARE set the pace over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course last time before getting outrun late. Kaidan Brewer retains the ride and he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 6
POMODORO‘S JET finished 2.5 lengths behind ARGO ALLEY last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Craig Zackey steps back into the saddle and he can notch up his sixth-career victory.
ARGO ALLEY may not have seen out the 1800m last time. He won his only attempt over this C&D. Despite top weight, he should be involved at the finish.
WYZEACT set the pace over 1400m on this course last time, before getting caught late by Musical Score. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew retains the ride and he may be hard to peg back.
Race 7
CHOCOLATE SOLDIER ran a good race when second over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He has won three times and finished second twice from six starts over this distance. The son of One World is having his peak run today and he should be hard to peg back.
SWING UPON A STAR finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
KARANGETANG‘S last two starts have been good. He was outrun late over this distance at Turffontein last time. If getting away to a clean start, he should be competitive.
Race 8
JOHNNY APPLESEED is better than his last start as he was reported to be fatigued. He finished 1.45 lengths behind BLAZE A WAY in his penultimate run. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Admiral Kitten is likely to race on the speed and he may be hard to peg back.
BLAZE A WAY followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over this C&D. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
JOHN WICK showed good speed when winning his last start over this C&D. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can follow up
