Winning Form selections for racing from the Vaal on Tuesday 24th December where there are huge prizes available in the free to enter @Hollywoodbets Punters Challenge
Race 1
This is a weak work riders’ Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is PARABELLUM from the Paul Matchett stable. He ran a fair race over 1160m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that Big Boy Bruce has come out and won again since. The son of Rafeef should enjoy the rise to 1600m. He jumps from a good draw of four and may be the one to side with.
CHABAL has run three fair races to date. The son of Gimmethegreenlight steps up to 1600m and gets the services of capable work rider Phelisile Mongqawa. He has scope and is one of the leading contenders in this contest.
FIZZLY BUBBLY showed some improvement in his last start over 1000m. He steps up to 1600m and gets the 1.5kgs taken off his back. The son of William Longsword is a progressive type and may have more to come.
Race 2
GREAT NOTION was her own worst enemy over this C&D in a work riders’ contest last time. She over raced in the early stages and was reported to be fatigued post-race. She gets the services of Piere Strydom who is riding at the top of his game. She jumps from pole position and if switching off early, she should be hard to peg back.
INSTANT ATTRACTION stayed on when second over 2000m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
CITY LIGHTS is still a maiden after 26 starts, but has decent recent form lines to her credit. The drop to 1600m may be ideal and she should be competitive.
Race 3
STREWN SKY raced from a handy position over this distance at Turffontein last time, but found one too good in the form of Command Pilot. The blinkers remain fitted which is encouraging. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
SALUTE THE FLAG was running on when second over this distance at Turffontein last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. Apprentice Trent Mayhew takes the 1.5kgs off his back and the combination merit healthy respect.
KUDZU is the stable companion of the top choice. He challenged strongly over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course, but found one too good in the form of Chestnut Bomber. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should be right there.
Race 4
GUY GIBSON has improved in his last three starts over 1600m. He set the pace last time, but found one too good in the form of Heather’s Boy. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Lancaster Bomber won his only attempt on this course. Diego De Gouveia knows him well and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
SAVANNAH STORM rallied late when winning his last start over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Piere Strydom retains the ride and he is one of the leading contenders.
POMODORO‘S JET finished 1.05 lengths behind RADICCHIO last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe
Race 5
WARHAWK BOMBER finished 0.5 lengths behind PRINCEOFGREEN last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Lancaster Bomber is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
PRINCEOFGREEN showed good improvement in his last start over 1600m at Turffontein. If confirming that effort, he should go close to winning. He is carded to race on 19 December 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
CONFEDERATE won his last start easier than the official margin suggests. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Fire Away has ability and merits obvious consideration.
Race 6
ANOTHER UNIVERSE won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over 2000m last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. The son of Ideal World should love the extra 400m on offer. He does take on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
IDEAL FUTURE challenged strongly over this distance last time, but was touched off by To The Rescue. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She won her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Futura always gives of her best and should be competitive.
DAMOVA has consistent form lines to her credit. She has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts over this distance. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.
Race 7
SAKHALA IS‘CATHULO‘S last start at Hollywoodbets Greyville is best ignored. His penultimate run when second over this distance, catches the eye. Piere Strydom is booked to ride and if getting away to a clean start, he may be the one to beat in this line-up.
SAMOA has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She tried hard when second over this distance last time. The 10-year-old mare is likely to race on the speed and she should pose a threat.
IN THE ETHER finished 3 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 8
HEIRLOOM tired late when fourth over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from six starts on this course. Both her career victories have come over this distance. She takes a slight drop in class and may be the one to cause the upset.
NEERAH finished 0.3 lengths behind WAITFORGREENLIGHT last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
WAITFORGREENLIGHT won a game race in her last start over this distance. She would have come on from the run and will strip fitter. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is in a good space and can follow up with another victory.
Race 9
JUST THE TWO OF US took the lead at the 200m mark last time before getting outrun late by Nettleton. She has won twice and finished second twice from six starts over this distance. Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride which is encouraging. She takes a slight drop in class and can go one better.
LADY OF MEMPHIS finished 0.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 4.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. Craig Zackey is booked to ride which is a big plus.
FOREVERINMYDREAMS stayed on when fourth over this distance last time. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. She is back against her own sex and must be included in all bets.
Race 10
NEW MEXICO showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1400m at Turffontein. He was slow into stride, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The son of Ideal World has dropped to a competitive rating and if jumping on terms, he may be the one to beat.
RATTLE BAG has good recent form lines to her credit. Three of her five career victories have come over this distance. Her last victory came under Piere Strydom and the combination merit healthy respect.
ALONE TIME showed speed when second over 1200m on this course last time. He tries the 1450m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he can go one better
