football.nedbankThe final of the Nedbank Cup takes place in Bloemfontein on Saturday and it features two seemingly evenly matched sides as Tshakhuma clash with Chippa United

Tshakhuma TTM

TTM have had a tough road to the final facing DSTV Premiership opposition in every round. Their cup run started with a 1-0 home win over Supersport and in the following round they knocked out Swallows on spot kicks after another home tie had finished locked up at 2-2. In the quarter final TTM visited Black Leopards and came away with a 2-0 win and in the semi's they took the scalp of Sundowns, playing out a 0-0 draw and holding their nerve in the penalty shoot out.

TTM are third bottom of the DSTV Premiership standings but they do have 7 points worth of daylight over the bottom club Black Leopards plus a game in hand. Their fortunes have been revived with 2 wins in their last 3 matches, most recently edging out 10 man Kaizzer Chiefs 2-1 with a late winner from the penalty spot in midweek.

Chippa needed penalty kicks to see off Free State Stars (2-2 90 mins) at the start of their road to the final. A subsequent home tie against Cape Town City went into extra time (1-1 90 mins) and a goal 4 minutes from the end of the second period saw Chippa edge it 2-1. A 2-1 home win over Richards Bay booked a semi final berth where Chippa edged Pretoria Callies 1-0.

In the DSTV Premiership Chippa are second bottom, 1 point behind TTM but they have played 1 game more. They have taken 7 points from their last 3 league games, a 0-0 draw at home to high flying Golden Arrows and 1-0 wins at Chiefs and at home to Stellenbosch.

Recent Head to Head

The first league meeting this season was staged on 29th November and it finished all square at 1-1 whilst the return is scheduled to take place on 26th May.

The Verdict

Both these teams generally find goals hard to come by with Chippa scoring 22 in 26 league games and TTM just 18 in 25 outings. Considering both sides have concerns over avoiding relegation they have done well to make it all the way to the final and they look very hard to separate.

Extra time and penalty kicks would be no great surprise to me but a single goal might edge it and for my betting interest I'm looking to no more than 1 goal in regulation time.

Bet: 90 minutes total goals under 1.5 at 17/10
