Uefa Champions League Round 4 gets under way on Tuesday night when our focus is on Celtic v RB Leipzig, Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen and Sporting CP v Manchester City
Prices below from Sportingbet are correct at the time of writing but subject to change
Celtic 22/10 Draw 27/10 RB Leipzig 11/10
Celtic have 4 points from their 3 CUL outings and the results have been very mixed. They thrashed Slovan Bratislava 5-1 in their first match in Glasgow and then crashed 7-1 away to Dortmund. The high scoring trend came to an abrupt end in Round 3 but a 0-0 draw away to Atalanta still represents a useful point.
In the Scottish Premiership Celtic have won 9 and lost 1 and they top the standings due to a better goal difference than Aberdeen.
After 3 straight defeats RB Leipzig have it all to do if they are to make the knockout rounds. They have lost 2-1 away to Atletico, 3-2 at home to Juve and last time out they went down 1-0 at home to Liverpool.
Leipzig are second in the Bundesliga, 3 points behind Bayern, they won 6 and drew 2 of their first 8 matches but suffered their first defeat at the weekend, 2-1 at Dortmund.
The Verdict
Leipzig's domestic form catches the eye but they are under pressure in this competition. Looking at Celtic's results it's hard to know what to expect but I would have thought Leipzig will create plenty of chances and the price boost for Benjamin Sesko to have 2 or more shots on target makes plenty of appeal.
Bets: Benjamin Sesko to have 2 or more shots on target, was 1.45/1 now 1.75/1 with Sportingbet
Liverpool 0.68/1 Draw 32/10 Bayer Leverkusen 34/10
With 3 wins from 3 Liverpool are 1 of just 2 sides to boast a 100% record (Villa are the other) and the target will be to secure a top 8 finish and go straight to the knockout rounds without the need for a play off. That probably means another couple of wins will be required alongside their victories at AC Milan (3-1), at home to Bologna (2-0) and away to Leipzig (1-0).
Liverpool's 2-1 home win over Brighton in the EPL at the weekend was their eighth league win in 10 games and took them 2 points clear of Man City at the top of the standings.
Leverkusen are also in good shape, unbeaten with 2 wins and 1 draw. They won their opener 4-0 at Feyenoord and followed up by edging out AC Milan 1-0 in a home fixture. Last time out they had to settle for a 1-1 draw away to Brest.
Leverkusen are fourth in the Bundesliga with a record of 4 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat
The Verdict
Liverpool are flying in all competitions and whilst I'm not going to suggest they will come unstuck here I do give the German side a shout of taking a point.
Bets: Match result draw at at 32/10 with Sportingbet
Sporting CP 3/1 Draw 29/10 Manchester City 0.82/1
Sporting have 7 points to show for their first 3 games. They were 2-0 winners at home to Lille first up and then drew 1-1 away to PSV, In round 3 they came away from Sturm Graz with a 2-0 win.
Sporting have won all 10 of their league games and lead the way in the Portuguese top flight, 3 points clear of Porto but coach Ruben Amorim will be leaving to take over at Man United on the 11th November.
City also have 7 points after a 0-0 draw at home to Inter was followed by a 4-0 victory away to Slovan Bratislava and a 5-0 home win over Sparta Prague.
City lost 2-1 at Bournemouth in the EPL last weekend, their first league defeat of the season at a time when their injury list has been stretching their squad.
The Verdict
City's team news will again be worth monitoring and there could be some value in the current price about the home side. However my preference is for a goalscorer bet and Viktor Gyokeres is my man.
Bets: Anytime goalscorer Viktor Gyokeres at 16/10 with BoyleSports
