Liverpool 27/20 Draw 13/5 Leipzig 39/20

As was the case with the first leg this game will be staged in neutral Budapest and Liverpool hold all the aces with a 2-0 lead. Second half goals from Salah and Mane gave Liverpool the win which was well deserved on the night.

Playing away from Anfield right now may be no bad thing for Liverpool, a 1-0 Premier League defeat at home to Fulham on Sunday was a sixth consecutive home loss and they have lost further ground in the race to finish in the top 4. If Liverpool miss out in that regard then their only route into this competition next season will be to win it this time around.

Since the first leg Leipzig have won all 3 of their league games, scoring 3 goals in each match and they also progressed in the German Cup. Leipzig are second in the Bundesliga, just 2 points shy of Bayern Munich.

In the group stage Leipzig faced English opposition in the shape of Manchester United, they crashed to a 5-0 defeat at Old Trafford but won the return, a virtual eliminator 3-2 to seal their place in the knockout rounds.

Verdict:

Leipzig's form in this competition last season and their current results domestically suggest they are capable of much better than we saw in the first leg. I expect them to throw plenty at Liverpool which in turn to could leave them wide open at times.

I'm going to take a small and very speculative play on a goal fest with both teams to score in both halves of football trading at a big price.

Bet: Both Teams to Score in both halves? Yes at 19/2

PSG 23/20 Draw 16/5 Barcelona 39/20

Barca opened the scoring with a penalty (Messi) in the first leg but it was all PSG from there onwards, Mbappe had them level by half time and went on to

complete a hat-tirck with Kean also on target in a 4-1 win at Camp Nou.

The Champions League form of last season's runners up seems to be improving as the season goes on after they lost group stage matches at home to Manchester United and at Leipzig on Matchday's 1 and 3. In Ligue 1 PSG are sandwiched between Lille and Lyon in a title race which is far more competitive than we usually see.

Barca have won their last 3 La Liga matches and sit 3 points behind Atletico in the title race but they have played 1 game more than the leaders. The pick of their results since the first leg was a 2-0 win at Sevilla but even a repeat of that scoreline would not be enough here.

There was a memorable Champions League knockout tie between these sides in 2017 when PSG won the first leg 4-0 in Paris and Barca were 6-1 winners at in the return at Camp Nou to pull off an amazing turn around. That might have PSG a little nervous if Barca take the lead even though this time the second leg is in Paris.

Verdict:

I was surprised by the manner of margin of the scoreline in the first leg and although history between these two sides suggests nothing should be taken for granted, surely PSG won't cough up such a commanding position again?

PSG obviously don't have to win the game to go through and the first leg score dilutes my appetite for a bet but for interests sake I will go with Mbappe to register anytime.

Bet: Anytime goalscorer Mbappe at 26/25
