The first knockout round of the Uefa Europa League takes place on Thursday, four English teams are in action and the coupon shows a number of fancied teams are travelling for the first leg.

As far as the English clubs are concerned Manchester United head to Real Sociedad, Leicester go to Slavia Prague, Spurs head to Austria to take on Wolfsberger (not to be confused with German club Wolfsburg) and Arsenal go to Benfica.
Real Sociedad have been a surprise package in La Liga this season and could cause Manchester United a few problems and I will look elsewhere for a betting
interest.
Leicester are of more interest to me although team news will give us much more of an idea as to how hungry they are to go deep in this competition. Like United, Leicester are genuine top 4 contenders in the Premier League and they are also still involved in the FA Cup. If Leicester field a strong line up they have the style of play suited to playing a first leg away from home and whilst it's a gamble within a gamble to go in early, I might just take a flyer on the away win.
Arsenal were banging in the goals as they coasted into the knockout rounds although Benfica will represent a step up in class compared to the teams they have come up against thus far. The Gunners recent FA Cup exit puts more emphasis on a tilt at the Europa League and whilst they have the return to come in London to finish the job, I can see them taking a first leg advantage.
Of the English quartet Spurs look to have the kindest of the draws and although they met some weak opposition in reaching the knockout rounds, by and large they were free scoring. Their opponents on Thursday will be up for this and the Austrian's group stage form shouldn't be underestimated but I still fancy a Spurs win in a game of 3 goals or more.
