Germany's opening Nations League match saw them play out a 1-1 draw away to Italy last week. They fell behind on 70 minutes but Kimmich equalized just moments later and there was no further scoring. Now coached by Hansi Flick, Germany are 10 games unbeaten. Their other recent preparations for the World Cup later this year comprised of a 1-1 draw away to the Netherlands and a 2-0 home win over Israel.

 

England

 

England took on Hungary in their first Nations League group match and they went down 1-0 in Budapest with the only goal coming from the penalty spot midway through the second half. The starting line up included Harry Kane who played the full game but England also fielded a number of players who are looking to force their way into the World Cup squad. It looked a tired display with England battling to create clear cut chances.

 

Other recent results for England include home wins over Switzerland (2-1) and Ivory Coast (3-0) in friendly internationals.

 

Recent Head to Head

 

The most recent head to head came in the Round of 16 of the Euro 2021 Finals at Wembley and England ran out 2-0 winners with goals from Sterling and Kane in the final 15 minutes.

 

England's last trip to Germany came in a friendly back in 2017 and they lost 1-0.

 

 

The Betting

 

Germany are trading at around 5/4 to win the game with the draw at 2.32/1 and England can be backed at around 9/4

 

A game of 3 goals or more is priced at 21/20 and it's 8/10 for both teams to score.

 

Harry Kane is 19/10 to score anytime for England and Gnabry is the same price to do likewise for Germany.

The Verdict:

 

Germany v England is a big occasion but at the end of an energy sapping season I'm not sure what sort of game we might get.

 

Home advantage and an unbeaten run just about sways me towards the Germans though I won't be getting carried away with the stake.
