BettingDiaryWe take a look at some of Thursday’s sports and horse racing highlights in our Daily Diary.

GOLF

The US PGA Tour stops off in Los Angeles this week for the Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club.

Rory Mcilroy heads up a strong field and is currently priced at 9/1 with Justin Thomas 10/1, Jon Rahm and Dustin Johnson both 12/1 and you can get 18/1 about Tiger Woods and 22/1 and better the balance.

This event has attracted some big name winners over the last few years with Bubba Watson winning in 2016 and 2018 and Dustin Johnson in 2017, JB Holmes will defend his title having won with a score of (-14) last year. A man we think is well priced this week is Sergio Garcia who has some good course form, or be it a few years ago, but has also been in good nick of late. The Spaniards game is ideally suited to this venue and at 66/1 a win and just over 13/1 a Top 5 he is begging to be backed.

The European Tour takes a break this week, but we have the LPGA Australian Open for the Ladies. The event is televised so if you do bet on this one you should get some nice coverage and Minjee Lee is the favourite at 7/1 with Nelly Korda 9/1 and you can get 11/1 and better the balance.

HORSE RACING

Local horse racing takes place at the Vaal Racetrack on Thursday, an 8 race card getting going at 12:40 and scheduled to finish at 16:35.

Favourite backers will be looking to Garden Party, Horse No. 1 in the 3rd Race, currently priced at 11/20 to get them off to a good start in the Pick Six and this one certainly rates as possible banker material. Of course, beating the favourite is important if you are looking for a big dividend and if you look further down the line for a banker then you may want to chance the Tarry trained Makara in Race 4 currently priced at 5/2.
