BettingDiaryThe Six Nations resumes, after a lengthy break, this weekend with Ireland hosting Italy in Dublin and we take a look at the game from a betting angle.

Let’s start with a look at the Outright Betting where England are trading as 1/4 favourites ahead of Ireland 69/20, France 13/1 and Scotland rank underdogs at 150/1.

Ireland’s Six Nations hopes took a big dent in their last match a 24-12 away defeat to England back in February. Prior to that they had beaten Wales and Scotland in Ireland.

Italy have lost all 3 of their opening matches losing by 42 to Wales on the road and by 13 to France in Paris. Last time out they lost 17-0 to Scotland at home.

Ireland have made short work of Italy in recent Six Nations matches in Dublin winning 56-19 in 2018 and 58-15 in 2016. In fact the last 4 Six Nations matches hosted by Ireland have seen them win by margins of greater than 30 points.

Ireland 1/50

Draw 80/1

Italy 25/1

Handicap: Ireland (-27.5) at 9/10, Italy (+27.5) at 9.10

Suggested Bet: Half-Time Handicap, Ireland (-13.5) at 9/10

The Irish have to come out firing as they need to win this game by a big margin if they have to have a chance in the Six Nations given that England play Italy next week in their final match.

I expect some minor resistance from Italy early, but Ireland should get on top and hopefully lead comfortably at the break.
