BettingDiaryWith the John Deere Classic being cancelled we have a very rare situation where the same course is going to be used 2 weeks in a row. 156 players take to the field for The Workday Charity Open in what looks like to be a once off event at Muirfield Village which is also the host course for next week’s Memorial Tournament.

Muirfield Village is a par 72 layout with generous Fairways, but quite tough approach shots and a good iron game is important. It looks as though the organisers are going to have the rough a bit shorter and the greens playing a little bit slower than at the Memorial, probably to ensure there is some variety next week. Jack Nicklaus describes the course as “challenging, but fair” in a Tweet.

Although last weeks winner, Bryson Dechambeau is absent, a strong field takes to the first tee with Justin Thomas heading the betting at 10/1 ahead of the ever consistent Patrick Cantlay 14/1 and Brooks Koepka who sat out a couple of weeks back as a precaution for Corona Virus also 14/1.

The Betting

Justin Thomas 10/1

Patrick Cantlay 14/1

Brooks Koepka 14/1

Hideki Matsuyama 16/1

Jon Rahm 16/1

Xander Schauffele 18/1

22/1 and better the balance, prices correct at the time of posting but are subject to change

Selections

Brooks Koepka each way at 14/1

Koepka looked in good nick before he was forced to take 2 weeks off and is coming off a Top 10 finish. He doesn’t have much of course form here as he last played at Muirfield Village in 2017 where he finished just outside the Top 30, but this does look like a course that I would expect him to go well at.

Rickie Fowler each way at 30/1

Fowler’s course form is interesting and he actually had 3 missed cuts in a row, but he followed that up with a runner-up, a Top 10 and a Top 15 finish. He had looked a bit out of sorts in his early come back matches following the COVID-19 break, but last week finished 12th and when coupled with his course form he looks a good bet at current prices.

Marc Leishman each way at 40/1

Leishman loves Muirfield Village and in the last 5 years he has had two Top 5’s, two Top 15’s and one disappointing finish outside the Top 60. He was in great nick leading up to the enforced break and hasn’t shown much since, but if he is going to come to light it will be at Muirfield Village for sure.

Kevin Streelman each way at 70/1

Streelman is a popular selection with tipsters around the world this week and he certainly has some solid course form with at Top 20, a Top 15, a Top 10 and last years Top 5 finish in the last 5 years. His recent form has been a bit erratic, but he was a runner-up 2 weeks ago and if he can hold that form he should be a big runner.
