BettingDiaryChelsea host Real Madrid in the 2nd leg of their semi-final on Wednesday and we take a look at the game from a betting angle.

Chelsea are priced at 7/2 to lift the Trophy heading into the 2nd leg of the semi-finals and their opponents, Real Madrid are 6/1 (prior to City v PSG game).

Chelsea played some excellent football in the 1st leg in Spain, but they would have been disappointed that having taken the lead early, they allowed Real Madrid back in to get the 1-1 draw. Still the away goal puts them in the box seat heading into this clash at Stamford Bridge.

Looking at Chelsea’s route to the semi-finals, they overcame Porto 2-1 on aggregate, losing the home leg 1-0, but thankfully having done enough away from home where they beat Porto 2-0. They met Atletico Madrid in the last 16, winning 3-0 on aggregate and the stat that jumps out from all of Chelsea’s knock-out matches so far is that none of the games have had more than 2 goals in and both teams have only found the back of the net in 1 match and that was the draw against Real Madrid.

Madrid saw off Liverpool in the quarter-finals thanks to a 3-1 victory in the 1st leg at home which they followed up with a goalless draw at Anfield. In their last 16 match they were too strong for Atlanta winning 4-1 on aggregate. Looking at their Champions League results there is no obvious goal scoring patterns although both teams have found the net in 3 of their last 4 games.

On the domestic front, Chelsea beat Fulham 2-0 in a workmanlike display on the weekend and they currently sit 4th in the EPL with just 4 matches remaining.

Real Madrid also had a 2-0 home win over the weekend against Osasuna and they haven't lost a match in any competition for the last 3 months, although quite interestingly they have played out 3 goalless draws in their last 6 matches across all competitions.

Chelsea 5/4

Draw 23/10

Real Madrid 49/20

Main Bet: First-half Correct Score 0-0 at 13/10

I think we may get quite a cagey first-half here as Chelsea would be more than happy just to keep Real Madrid out, forcing them into reckless action later in the game while Madrid would probably be content to apply pressure, but without over extending themselves.

Additional Bet: 1st goal interval 61-75 minutes at 39/4

This is not a bet I have taken before but I really like the odds here given I am betting on a goalless opening half. I expect this game will open in the 2nd half and this will hopefully give me a nice interest. Another option for the more conservative is 2nd half highest scoring at 21/20
