South Africa will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing showing in the opening ODI when they face off against Pakistan in a must win encounter at the Wanderers on Sunday.
The Proteas were firm favourites to beat Pakistan in the opener at Centurion on Friday but after losing the toss and getting sent in to bat they were in trouble early. A brilliant 123* by Rassie van der Dussen, ably supported by a 50 from David Miller saw them to a respectable 273/6 in their 50 overs. The Pakistan bowlers were consistent with no stand out performers.
The same cannot be said of their batting though where captain Babar Azam was brilliant in getting to 103 in a big partnership with Iman-ul-Haq which looked to have taken the game away from the Proteas. Anrich Nortje though had other ideas and his 4-51 nearly tipped the match back to the Proteas but in the end the visitors held on to win off the last ball with 3 wickets in hand.
2nd ODI Betting
South Africa 13/20
Pakistan 13/10
I must say I expected this to be a closer betting heat based on what I saw on Friday. Pakistan should really have won easily and at 13/10 they look decent value. I am going to stick with some of the alternative markets though.
SUGGESTED BETS:
Top Home Batsman, Van der Dussen at 4/1
He was excellent at Centurion and although I never intended backing him the 4/1 is too good to resist given the struggles of some of his teammates in the top order.
Top Away Batsman Babar Azam at 2/1
He delivered for us at 19/10 in the 1st match so why we are getting a slightly better price now I am not sure. This man is pure quality and stands head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch. For the more adventurous you can get 5/1 he scores a 100 in the match.
Top Home Bowler, Kagiso Rabada at 12/5
Rabada is heading off to the IPL and having been quite lightly raced since having a very busy schedule I am expecting him to burst out of the blocks and trouble Pakistan batsmen on this quick wicket.
Most Match Sixes, South Africa at 4/7
Another bet that delivered for us in the 1st ODI albeit at a slightly bigger price. The Proteas have more players that will regularly clear the boundary and I expect plenty of 6s at the Wanderers.
