BettingDiaryThe Winged Foot Golf Club in New York is the venue for this weeks second major of the year, the US Open and we take a look at the Tournament from a betting angle.

Winged Foot is a par 70 course which will be hosting the US Open for the 6th time. As can be expected at US Open venues the rough will be up and the fairways are narrow and it will be a typical US Open week where par is a very good score.

Selections:

Dustin Johnson win at 9/1

There is no hotter player in world golf at the moment than the man who just won the FedEx Cup and has not finished outside the Top 3 in his last 4 starts on the PGA Tour. He is a past US Open Winner back in 2016 and in the last 6 years has finished in the Top 4 of the US Open 4 times. This man is playing brilliant golf and I would be very surprised if he wasn’t involved in the business end come Sunday night, South African time.

Jason Day each way at 35/1 (paying 6 places)

Day has a very strong US Open record although after showing good form since returning to action he has dipped off a bit in his most recent Tournaments. He went through a run of 5 Top 10 finishes in 6 years of the US Open and last year delivered his best performance for a while finishing just outside the Top 20.

Matthew Fitzpatrick each way at 60/1

Fitzpatrick has finished in the Top 15 in his last 2 US Open starts and clearly knows how to handle tough conditions. He has finished in 6th place in his last start and has had 3 Top 10’s in his last 5 starts although he has missed two cuts in that time as well.

Louis Oosthuizen each way at 80/1

The South African finished the previous PGA season in reasonable nick with 3 Top 25 finishes in his last 4 starts. It is the US Open that catches the eye though and he has finished in the Top 25 in his last 5 starts with a runner-up finish 5 years ago and a 7th place last year. It has been a long time since South Africa had a major winner perhaps Louis can deliver.
