There are 4 PSL matches taking place on Saturday and we take a look at each of them from a betting angle.
HIGHLANDS PARK v MARITZBURG UNITED – Click here to bet
Highlands have reeled off 3 successive draws since returning to action, most recently 1-1 with Polokwane. They currently sit 9th on the table, 7 points behind their opponents, Maritzburg United who are 6th. Maritzburg have also played 3 games since returning to action, drawing 2 and losing 1.
Betting:
Highlands Park 2/1
Draw 2/1
Maritzburg United 31/20
Suggested Bet: The draw at 2/1
Of course the run of Highlands Park draws will be broken sooner or later, but looking at the recent results of matches played by these sides you would have to think it is going to be a big runner once again. The sides also drew the reverse fixture 1-1 earlier in the season.
ORLANDO PIRATES v SUPERSPORT UNITED – Click here to bet
This match sees the 5th placed Pirates side take on 3rd placed SuperSport and they can get within 1 point of them if they win. Pirates form has been really poor though and in 4 matches since the COVID-19 break ended they have drawn 3 matches and lost 1 and in those 4 games they have only scored 1 goal.
SuperSport United are in better nick and have beaten Black Leopards and Polokwane in their last 2 matches and prior to that drew with Bloem Celtic.
Goals have been rare in both SuperSport and Pirates games with under 2.5 goal backers collecting in all 6 matches played by the sides since the break.
SuperSport won the fixture earlier in the season 3-0.
Betting:
Orlando Pirates 23/20
Draw 2/1
SuperSport United 28/10
Suggested Bet: SuperSport win at 28/10
It is hard for me to get my head around the fact that Pirates can be 23/20 favourites for this match given what poor form they are in at the moment. I feel that SuperSport have to be backed on value alone.
AMAZULU v BLACK LEOPARDS – Click here to bet
You often hear talk of 6 point matches and this is one of them as 15th placed and 2nd from bottom, AmaZulu take on 13th placed Black Leopards who sit just 1 point above them on the table.
AmaZulu’s form since the break has been poor with 2 draws and a loss, but they have managed to score 3 goals in their last 2 games.
Black Leopards were sitting bottom of the table just a few weeks ago, but they beat Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows before a 1-0 loss to SuperSport.
These sides have drawn their last 2 matches including their reverse fixture which ended goalless.
Betting:
AmaZulu 14/10
Draw 2/1
Black Leopards 22/10
Suggested Bet: Leopards win at 22/10
I feel that Leopards are playing the better of the 2 sides and that they can take a massive step towards ensuring their safety with a victory here.
GOLDEN ARROWS v CAPE TOWN CITY – Click here to bet
Arrows are 11th on the table and in 4 games since play resumed they have only taken 1 point and last time out lost 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns. Arrows have only scored 1 goal in these 4 matches.
Cape Town City sit 7th on the table and they have won 3 and lost 1 of their 4 matches since the resumption, most recently beating Orlando Pirates 1-0. 3 of their 4 matches have finished with 1-0 score lines with the exception being a 3-2 win over Mamelodi Sundowns.
These sides drew the reverse fixture 1-1 and under 2.5 goal backers would have collected in 6 of the last 7 matches between the sides.
Betting:
Golden Arrows 23/10
Draw 2/1
Cape Town City 27/20
Suggested Bet: Cape Town City win at 27/20
I think this is a generous price on Cape Town City given the sort of form they are in when compared to Arrows who are in absolute free fall.
