BettingDiaryFriday sees Stage 13 of the Tour de France start in Chatel-Guyon and finish in Puy Mary Cantal covering 191 kilometres. We take a look at the stage from a betting perspective.

Stage 12 Wrap

I expected a big breakaway to go on Stage 12 of the Tour de France and while we did get a break early it wasn’t given a lot of freedom and in the end the race came back together again over some very testing terrain.

At that point it looked like the Bora team might be trying to set it up for Peter Sagan in a sprint finish, but Sunweb had other ideas and a three pronged attack saw the brilliant young Marc Hirschi soloing to a well-deserved victory. Pre-stage favourite, Alaphilippe did his best to chase Hirschi down, but was always racing for 2nd place something he lost due to a mechanical failure at the other end of the race.

There was no movement amongst the General Classification riders and there has been very little change to the Yellow Jersey betting.

Stage 13 is a really hilly and mountainous route with very little flat road and finishes with two deep climbs one after the other. We could well get some change amongst the leaders, although they may not be fighting it out for the stage win.

Stage 13 Verdict

Plenty of climbing here but it doesn't look overly obvious as to whether the breakaway will stick or the GC men chase them down and target the stage win.

We will give another chance to Julian Alaphilippe who will be kicking himself for not covering the decisive move yesterday. Warren Barguil is the back up in the hope he gets the green light to go for the breakaway rather than look after his team leader.

Stage 13 Bets:

Julian Alaphilippe at 9/1

Warren Barguil at 28/1

Don't forget our money back promotion for a second place finish on all stages of the tour.
