BettingDiaryThe penultimate round of DSTV Premiership matches takes place on Wednesday and we select 4 of the fixtures to have a bet on.

AMAZULU v SWALLOWS

AmaZulu is 2nd on the table, but their excellent run has come to a halt with back-to-back defeats away at Pirates and at home to Baroka, both by 1-0 margins. Goals have been hard to come by in recent AmaZulu fixtures and their last 3 matches have each seen exactly 1 goal scored.

Swallows are 5th on the table despite losing only 1 match all season. This is because they have drawn 19 out of 28 games and that includes 9 out of their last 10 and their last 7 matches in a row. They played to their 2nd consecutive goalless draw at home to Sundowns last time out and their last 9 games have all failed to reach the 3 goal mark.

AmaZulu 15/10

Draw 2/1

Swallows 22/10

Suggested Bet: The draw at 2/1

We have made some good money on Swallows draws of late and although the run is bound to end sometime, 2/1 is just too good a price to pass up.

KAIZER CHIEFS v GOLDEN ARROWS

Chiefs will need to win both their last 2 matches and hope for help from other teams if they are to make the Top 8 and perhaps they should more realistically be looking to avoid being drawn into the relegation battle. They have only taken 2 points from the last 15 they have played for and last time out they lost 2-1 away at Black Leopards and coach, Gavin Hunt, has been relieved of his duties.

One area of consistency in Chiefs recent matches is that both teams have found the back of the net in 8 of their last 9 matches and over 2.5 goals has arrived in 6 of their last 7 games.

Golden Arrows are 3rd on the table and are coming off a 3-0 home win over TS Galaxy. Their last 2 games have both delivered for over 2.5 goal backers, but prior to that they had 7 games in a row where matches has failed to reach the 3 goal mark.

These sides played to a 2-2 draw at Arrows earlier in the season and last season Chiefs won this fixture 2-0.

Kaizer Chiefs 15/10

Draw 9/4

Golden Arrows 2/1

Suggested Bet: Both teams to score, YES, at 15/20

Chiefs attack has been reasonable this season, the problems have been at the back. I can see a run of both teams finding the back of the net continuing.

STELLENBOSCH v TS GALAXY

Stellenbosch are in 14th position, hovering just above the relegation playoff spot with Chippa United just 2 points behind them. Their recent form has been poor and they haven’t won in their last 10 matches, drawing 6 and losing 4. Their last 2 games have been goalless draws and there has only been 2 goals in total scored in their last 4 matches with their last 7 matches having 2 goals or less in them and 6 of their last 7 having 1 goal or less in them.

TS Galaxy currently sit 8th on the log and a victory here would ensure their Top 8 finish. They beat Pirates 1-0 at home last time out and while they have lost 6 of their last 10 the other games have been victories. Looking at their recent games for goal patterns, only 1 team has found the net in their last 5 matches.

Stellenbosch 15/10

Draw 9/4

TS Galaxy 2/1

Suggested Bet: The draw at 9/4

Both teams would obviously love 3 points, but I think in the back of their minds I think avoiding defeat is going to be even more important and that brings the draw into play, a result that has been very common in Stellenbosch matches this season.

TSHAKHUMA v CHIPPA UNITED

This is a typical relegation 6 pointer as Tshakhuma sit 13th on the log, 4 points ahead of Chippa United who occupy the playoff spot and could yet be overtaken by Black Leopards and finish bottom of the table which comes with instant relegation.

Tshakhuma have picked up 4 of their last 6 points, most recently drawing 0-0 away at Baroka and prior to that they beat Maritzburg United 1-0 at home. Goals have been like hen’s teeth in Tshakhuma matches of late with just 2 in their last 3 matches.

Chippa United won 2 games in a row a couple of weeks ago, but they then drew at home to Black Leopards and lost to Bloem Celtic.   They will be desperate for 3 points, which depending on how the Stellenbosch game goes, could take them out the relegation zone. 5 of the last 6 Chippa United matches have had 1 goal or no goals in them.

Tshakhuma 12/10

Draw 9/4

Chippa United 47/20

Suggested Bet: The draw at 9/4

Once again we have a situation where I think both sides will be determined not to lose rather than having the initiative to go out and win the game.

The 0-0 correct score at around 5/1 could also be an option in this one.
