BettingDiaryOrlando Pirates v AmaZulu in a DSTV Premiership match on Thursday and we take a look at the game from a betting angle.

Pirates are 4th on the log, 7 points behind AmaZulu, but with a game in hand. Their last action was a goalless draw away at Stellenbosch and prior to that they beat Black Leopards 3-0 at home. Pirates have one of the stronger home records this season with just 1 loss in 13 matches and they have won 4 and lost 1 of their last 5 home games.

Pirates home games have tended to be low scoring, averaging just 2 goals each, but while only 4 of the 13 games have reached 3 goals or more 2 of those 4 have been their last 2 home games.

AmaZulu are 2nd on the table and by the time this match kicks off their chances of winning the title may well have gone if Sundowns have won on Wednesday night. Their title challenge pretty much ended last time out when they lost 1-0 at home to Baroka, their only defeat in their last 15 games in which time they had 12 wins and 2 draws.

No arduous patterns when it comes to goals in AmaZulu matches and the last 2 games they have played in had just 1 goal in them, but prior to that they beat Cape Town City 5-1 on the road. Their away form has been excellent this season and they have won their last 5 in a row, losing only twice in 13 attempts on the road. AmaZulu away matches have averaged 2.2 goals each, but only 3 of the 13 games would have seen you collect a profit had you backed over 2.5 goals.

These sides played to a 1-1 draw at AmaZulu earlier this season and this fixture was won 1-0 by Pirates last season.

Black Leopards 5/4

Draw 21/10

Kaizer Chiefs 11/4

Suggested Bet: The draw at 21/10

There is seldom much between these sides and I don’t expect either to give an inch in this match. I am a little concerned that AmaZulu may have turned the corner and be heading downhill, but they have been the surprise team of the season and I think they can get another point out of this one.

If you are looking for something slightly more speculative, the Correct Score of 1-1 is trading at 9/2 and another bet I quite like is Both Teams to Score, YES, at 1/1.
