Wednesday 15th April Royal Challengers Bengaluru v Lucknow Super Giants
Venue: M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru
After 4 rounds of matches for each team RCB were in third place with a record of 3 wins and 1 defeat. After home wins against the Sunrisers and CSK their only defeat came away to log leaders Rajasthan Royals but RCB returned to winning ways at the weekend with an 18 run win away to Mumbai. Batting first RCB piled on 240/4 with Salt (78), Kohli (50) and Patidar (53) the top scorers. Suyash Sharma took 2 important wickets as Mumbai’s chase finished short on 222/5.
The Super Giants first 4 matches delivered 2 wins and 2 defeats. Their wins both came away from home, at the Sunrisers and KKR whilst at home they lost their opening game to Delhi by 6 wickets and last time out they went down to Gujarat Titans by 7 wickets. Markram top scored with just 30 runs for LSG who posted 164/8 and the Titans had the chase wrapped up in 18.4 overs.
Match Result Betting: RCB 6/10 LSG 13/10
RCB have been full of runs whilst LSG have been aa far better side when travelling so they could be competitive. I think the top individual score will be a big one.
Bets: Top batter in match total runs over 77.5 at 0.87/1 with WSB
Thursday 16th April Mumbai Indians v Punjab Kings
Venue: Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai
After winning their first match of the tournament at home to KKR by 6 wickets things haven’t gone to plan for Mumbai. They suffered defeats at Delhi (6 wickets), at Rajasthan Royals (27 runs) and most recently at home to RCB (18 runs). That loss to RCB saw Mumbai having to chase 240/4 and although Rutherford smashed 71 off 31 including 9 sixes there was too much ground to make up and MI’s chase finished on 222/5.
Punjab Kings are unbeaten with 3 wins and 1 no result against their name. They started with a 3 wicket win at home to the Titans and followed up with a 5 wicket victory at CSK. They had KKR in trouble at 25/2 when rain forced the abandonment of their third match and last time out they ran out 6 wicket winners at home to the Sunrisers. Punjab found themselves chasing 220 for victory against the Sunrisers, opening pair Arya (57) and wicketkeeper Singh (51) put on 99 for the first stick and Iyer’s unbeaten 69 earned him the MoM award as Punjab got home with 7 balls to spare.
Match Result Betting: MI 15/20 Punjab 11/10
One or two alarm bells will be ringing if MI go down again and Punjab are in good form so it should be a decent contest and hopefully Bumrah will start to fire with the ball for the hosts.
Bets: Top MI wicket Taker Bumrah at 7/2 with WSB
