A betting preview and tips for the 2026 T20 World Cup matches taking place on the 1st of March including Zimbabwe v South Africa and India v West Indies

GUNNING FOR GLORY (Part 2) – Sunday 01 March

South Africa saunter into their Sunday outing against neighbours Zimbabwe without needing to roll out the heavy artillery – it will in fact be interesting whether they opt to give anyone a rest. India on the other hand will need their full arsenal operating at its powerful best if they are to disarm the Windies at Eden Gardens.

SOUTH AFRICA v ZIMBABWE, Delhi

The match most people are looking past as they can’t wait for the gunpowder to be lit in the other game, later in the day. Others are already looking ahead at the possible semi-final fixtures where the Proteas already know their opponents and venue.

In their previous dead-rubber the Saffas opted to rest their big guns, Ngidi and Marco Jansen. If you are involved in Tournament Top Bowler markets, then these talks will have you very keen on possible team news in the Protea camp. Personally, I doubt there will be many changes, but I do expect George Linde to get another run here.

Talking of Top Tournament markets, unlikely Zimbabwe still have a decent candidate in this category. Brian Bennett has been superb with bat in hand and he could still walk away with top honours if he can pull the trigger one more time.

BL Bennett to score a 50 – Yes @ 4.15 with Pokerbet

Decent odds for a man who has 3 in the tournament and averages 270!

Player of the Match – Corbin Bosch @ 13.00 with Pokerbet

If the Proteas opt to rest one of their quick men it will likely be Jansen, Rabada or Ngidi. Bosch won this award the last time they played here (3/12 in his 4 overs) at Delhi and I reckon he is in top form with ball in hand at present.

INDIA v WEST INDIES, Eden Gardens

It is the precise, sniper-type approach of the Indians against the bold bazooka that is the way Daren Sammy’s cool dudes approach the game.

The Islanders showed against South Africa that they will be bringing one approach to any game they embark on – full on assault. India surrendered against the South Africans, but the batting line-up took the opportunity to regain some confidence against Zim. They will need all of this against an opponent who has zero confidence issues.

The Windies have had two outings at this venue and of course the hosts will be well acquainted.

Top Windies Batter – SE Rutherford @ 9.50 with Pokerbet

It’s rinse and repeat with this bet. Rutherford still feels the most in-form batter in the Windies line-up and I can’t look past these odds.

Total Match Sixes – Over 19.5 @ 1.89

It really does feel a big number. But team India are fresh off smoking 17 against Zim and the Windies managed 11 against a strong SA bowling unit. There are so many monster hitters with canon-like power that I just have to be involved here – think Hetmyer, Rutherford, Powell, Shepherd, Kishan, Varma, Hardik, etc.

Player of the Match – HH Pandya @ 11.00 with Pokerbet

Hardik somehow sneaked this award against Zimbabwe, but it wasn’t even his best total outing. He is in good form with the willow, has the knack of picking up a crucial wicket and even a spark from him in the field could give us an assist here.

I have heard the argument for the West Indies surprising the Indians in this one and whilst I love and respect their game I just can’t look past the home side getting it done in front of their faithful. Time to go big or go home!
