Tuesday’s AFCON action comes from Groups C and D and we take a look at all four games including DR Congo v Benin, Senegal v Botswana, Nigeria v Tanzania and Tunisia v Uganda

A reminder there are 6 groups, each containing 4 teams. The top 2 in each group will go through to the knockout rounds along with the 4 best third place finishers.

Group D DR Congo 7/10 Draw 5/2 Benin 4.25/1

DRC came through qualifying unbeaten with 4 wins and 2 draws to finish ahead of Tanzania with Guinea and Ethiopia missing out. They will also contest the inter continental play off for World Cup 2026 after running Senegal close in qualifying and then getting the better of Cameroon and Nigeria in the CAF play offs.

Benin squeezed into these finals after finishing second to Nigeria in their group. They won 2, drew 2 and lost 2 of their matches and edged out Rwanda with Libya finishing fourth. Benin were in contention for WC2026 qualifying before coming up just short behind Bafana and Nigeria in a competitive group.

The Verdict

With Senegal still to face for both these sides this is a game you really want to win but dare not lose. Benin proved they can be a handful in a competitive WC qualifying group before falling short but DRC are very much on a roll and I fancy they can edge this one.

Bet: Winning margin, DRC by 1 goal exactly at 2.15/1 with Pokerbet

Group D Senegal 1 / 5 Draw 5/1 Botswana 14/1

Senegal made short work of their group with 5 wins and 1 draw, scoring 10 goals and conceding just 1 to finish ahead of Burkina Faso with Burundi and Malawi some way back. Senegal also booked their ticket to the 2026 WC Finals after finishing unbeaten in qualifying with 7 wins and 3 defeats.

Botswana won 2, drew 2 and lost 2 of their qualifiers to finish as distant runners up to Egypt, edging out third place Mauritania with Cape Verde fourth. Botswana never got in a blow in WC qualifying losing 6 of 10 in a group topped by Algeria.

The Verdict

Despite missing some key players Senegal ought to have too much for Botswana and given their defensive record I think they can start with a win and a clean sheet.

Bet: Multiple correct score 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 at 11/10 with Sportingbet

Group C Nigeria 9/20 Draw 31/10 Tanzania 6.25/1

Nigeria topped their group with a record of 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat to finish ahead of Benin with Rwanda and Libya third and fourth. After finishing as runners to Bafana in WC qualifying Nigeria thrashed Gabon in the first play off but then bowed out to DRC on spot kicks.

Tanzania won 3, drew 1 and lost 2 of their qualifiers to finish as runners up to DR Congo with Guinea just behind in third and Ethiopia fourth. Tanzania were third in their WC qualifying group, some distance behind Morocco and Niger.

The Verdict

After the bitter disappointment of failing to make the WC Finals the Super Eagles are under some pressure to have a real tilt at this title. With the likes of Lookman and Victor Osimhen they certainly have the talent, it’s just whether you trust them to put it together.

Bet: Nigeria to win and keep a clean sheet 23/20 with Sportingbet

Group C Tunisia 13/20 Draw 26/10 Uganda 4.25/1

Tunisia were runners up to Comoros in qualifying. They won 3, drew 1 and lost 2 of their matches to finish ahead of Gambia and Madagascar were the also rans. Qualifying for the EC Finals was much more straight forward as Tunisia won 9 and drew 1 of their matches to go through automatically.

Uganda won 4, drew 1 and lost 1 of their qualifiers to finish 1 point behind Bafana in their group with Congo and South Sudan some way back. In WC qualifying Uganda were runners up to Algeria but failed to make the play off cut as a best second placed team.

The Verdict

Tunisia battled to qualify for these finals and although their EC qualifying record was impressive it wasn’t the strongest of groups. I fancy Uganda to claim a point here.

Bet: Match result draw at 26/10 with Sportingbet
