Algeria take on DR Congo before Ivory Coast clash with Burkina Faso as the AFCON Round of 16 draws concludes on Tuesday and we have a play in each game

Algeria v DR Congo
Algeria topped Group E with a perfect 3 wins from 3 to finish 3 points clear of Burkina Faso. Sudan also qualified in third with 3 points and Equatorial Guinea failed to earn a point.
Riyad Mahrez scored 3 goals in Algeria’s first 2 group matches, a 3-0 win over Sudan and 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso. That was enough to see Algeria through but they still made short work of Equatorial Guinea with a 3-1 victory in their final group match.
DR Congo finished as runners up to Senegal in Group D. Both sides finished on 6 points but Senegal had the better goal difference, Benin also made it through with 3 points and Botswana were the also rans.
DRC started with a 1-0 win over Benin before playing out a 1-1 draw with Senegal. They made a bold bid for top spot in the group in their final match but despite a 3-0 win over Botswana they came up just short of Senegal on goal difference.
The Verdict
Algeria have impressed but DR Congo have done little wrong themselves and are hard to beat. This could well go beyond regulation time.

Ivory Coast v Burkina Faso
Defending champions Ivory Coast topped Group F due to a better goals scored record than Cameroon. Both those nations finished on 7 points, Mozambique also made it through with 3 points and Gabon lost all 3 matches to finish bottom of the quartet.
Amad Diallo was on target for Ivory Coast in their first 2 matches, a 1-0 win over Mozambique followed by a 1-1 draw with Cameroon. In their final group match they fell 2-0 behind to Gabon but worked their way back into it and completed the comeback in injury time to run out 3-2 winners which saw them top the group.
Burkina Faso (6 points) finished as runners up to Algeria (9 points) in Group E, Sudan were third and qualified with 3 points and Equatorial Guinea lost all 3 of their matches.
Burkina Faso’s only defeat came against Algeria (1-0) in their second group match. Either side of that they staged an amazing late comeback to get the better of Equatorial Guinea 2-1 in their opening game and a 2-0 win over Sudan last time out sealed the runners up berth.
The Verdict
Again I’m tempted by the draw but Ivory Coast probably have that extra bit of quality with the likes of Amad which might just tip the scales in their favour.
